I always lay in bed and think about how I was just feeling and try to think about my dream in bed as long as I can while in bed. Once I get a good idea of what was going on then I get up. I usually remember more as the day progresses from there.
I'm about to go treeplanting for the summer, and every year that consistently means my dreamjournal gets neglected.... I have less dreams, and less time to write them down. Long hours working, and not much time for sleep. Does anyone have any suggestions to keep those dream counts up? I do have the whole day to myself for thinking, so any sorts of dreaming thought exercises would be good...

Try to extend your sleeping timeI doubt they will make you work more then 8 hours a day. So sacrifice some fun like TV and stuff, and sleep more
I'm sure you will find it very rewarding...
well, usually there is 10-12 hour days...
and no tv
but I guess I can still try going to sleep early sometimes...
