    Waking up TOO well??.. (WBTB/WILD)

For a few nights now i have been setting my alarm for 1:00 or 2:00 A.M knowing that you need to wake up pretty late in the night for WILD/WBTB to be mostly succesful... But when I wake up, or as soon as my alarm or whatever goes off.. I wake up completely and instantly and im never tired.. But then whenever i don't do that and wake up at 5:00 to go to school, I AM tired... What is up?? I have been going to bed at 8:30-9:20

I dont have too much trouble getting to sleep but then again im a little too concious for WILD.

    Overreacting?

I would recommend trying to wake naturally for WBTB instead of using an alarm. When you are first going to sleep, repeat to yourself "I will awaken after I dream, and I will remember the dream". For me, this usually results in waking up after 4-6 hours, and it's always at the end of a sleep cycle so I don't have that groggy feeling. It may not work the first time or two, but if you keep trying it you should get some results.

However, it kind of sounds like you have the opposite problem, so maybe when you're going back to sleep you should try some relaxation techniques, like focusing on your breathing, or contracting and relaxing each muscle in your body. I tend to have more trouble falling asleep first thing at night than I do if I wake up in the middle of the night, but those techniques have helped me somewhat.

    Naturally.

I wake up 5/6 days naturally before my alarm sets off. I suppose I could train my body for like 1:45 in the morning too. I can usually get myself to wake up at a certain time so I will try that .

Also thanks for the tips on relaxation too.
