What kind of LD was this?

Today I was sleeping in (really) late, and woke up at 12:00 but still kind of tired. I was just thinking of the long dream I had during the night, but was too tired to record it, so I decided to go back to sleep for an hour or so then I would probly be rested. I fell asleep and was pretty much instantly in a new dream.

The dream went on an I became lucid!! I dunno I think this might be my 3rd or 4th so far in the past few YEARS. It was exciting. I changed a person in my dream and was really in control, but it fell apart way too soon and I woke up.

So what kind of LD is this classified as? I fell asleep and was pretty much instantly REM sleep

Also...how do you STAY lucid for a long time? I could keep the dream very stable, even when I was closing my eyes trying to change one thing (the person), but when I reached out to the person, the dream kind of collapsed into darkness and I woke up. My hand was between my knees and I think it fell asleep so when I touched things it felt all numb. Could that have been the cause or something else?

      It was a DILD.

Maintaining lucidity is a skill you must learn and develop for yourself, over time. There are a lot techniques that can help, but you need to find something that works well for you.

Some techniques you may want to try include the classics: spinning, rubbing your hands together, and feeling objects in your environment.

A multitude of things could have caused you to wake up. It's hard to say exactly what it was without more detail.

      Definitely a DILD...

I think BillyBob said it best. You should read his guide to stabilizing and making the dream more vivid, but I can't seem to find the link.
