hmm.... it's probably different for different people. But if you can fly or float in normal lucid dreams, try that at first. Also wait until the scene around you is clear or all around you, sometimes at first its hazy or not complete. Try moving your head at first if you cant fly or float, but if you feel like it's slipping away I'd say try anyway, like looking at your hands and rubbing them to get yourself more focused.
What I experience before a WILD is the scene or whatever becomes really bright, and once I'm fully in it I can walk around and I just do it without thinking about it really.
I hope it works, but as you've probably read around here, it's very difficult to do. I haven't had many while trying, they usually come randomly.

). I think that for a first time, you really must risk. But once you get used to it, you'll know when the time is right 
. if you are back in your bed however, you might want to wait till the next wave.
