I don't have an answer for you, but I have yet to have even one lucid dream. I've never had a lucid dream in my life that I can recall. Your once a week may be pathetic compared to other people, but that would be wonderful for me.
I am wondering why some people have to struggle so hard to obtain lucid dreams. I am including myself in this. I estimate I've probably had somewhere in the range of 15-20 OBE-WILD type experiences, less than 10 DILD's including a few MILD's in about 5 years of trying. This is pathetic, none of the methods work well for me, only occasionally and most of my OBE's have come about after waking and just spontaniously happen as I am drifting off to sleep, I thought that was the answer after having two great experiences with WBTB-WILD's without even trying, the next night, confident I had it down, I fell asleep, and did every time after that untill I started trying supplements. Those work occasionally, but not well enough, I'm still about 1 a week, and it is usually a short lucid. Also the suppossed miricle lucid supplements don't work at all for me, Galantamine does not work for me, (it did twice), nor does GPC choline, B6 works the best, but I am getting tired of being dependant upon supplements, that still do not give the results I want.
Does anyone know a method, or something I can do to increase my odds of becoming lucid, I try most of the methods I read on this forum, but they haven't worked for me, Other than WILD's I usually just recognize something is not right in a dream for a DILD. The MILD method worked a couple of times but has not worked since. I have kept a dream journal for years, seems to have helped my recall, which is usually excellent, but hasn't really helped me get lucid.

I sort of share your problem.
I have never ever succeeded in a WILD.
Yet, my amount of DILDs would be in the hundreds.
It is weird, you are cursed with having few, but real experiences.
I am cursed with ''natural affinity'' that lets me DILD.
Ah well, as for techniques, if you really have used most techniques on this forum, I can't help you.
I did become lucid one time when it was extremely hot though, and every time I went back to sleep, I entered the same dream in the same position, and everything would be the same as I left it when waking up.
So, maybe try a Heat induced lucid dream?
It was so hot that I could not go to sleep unless I was lying on top of everything, naked, and shifting position every 2 seconds and whining about how it's so hot, lol.

maybe it has something to do with the fact that a lot of people can't find the technique that's right for them right away, and they give up and move on too quickly when if they only practiced that technique more often they would have gotten the hang of it.
or maybe some people are just no good![]()
sucks, really
Man was not meant to dream Lucidly.
Some are born to sweet deleight
Some are born to endless night
Hi, I know how you feel. I read about lucid dreams about 7 years ago, kept a dream journal and did reality checks (though probably not as often as I should have) I never had a single LD until about 3 years ago, which was a rubbish one I can barely remember. I didn't start having them regularly until about 2 years ago. Then a few months ago I had a massive increase and for about a month I had one every other night!
I'm now back to about one every two weeks, it slowed down for no reason at all, I haven't done anything different. Admittedly I've never done too much work towards getting one- I've just started trying to WILD and I think I'm almost there, but still yet to have a LD through that method.
Anyway my point is, you may suddely get an increase in them for no reason if you just wait. By all means try some different techniques, but I think sometimes the subconscious just doesn't want you to LD for some reason! Then you may "crack it" and start having them almost every night. Maybe you could try altering your sleeping pattern or something?
Good luck
Lucid dreams can be a tricky thing to grab ahold of, sometimes it feels like everything you do you just cannot get it, but sometimes it's like it's there, and you can just have them, my belief is you really have to astablish a connection and relationship with your subconscious, instead of battling it you have to learn to work with it to acheive your goals, thats what a good friend of mine told me who mastered lucid dreaming and I believe the same, some people have a very hard time with this though, they don't really understand these concepts, you have to be a deep thinker or reather right brained to figure it all out I'm afraid sometimes. (by right brained I mean better at working with abstract concepts)
We all have a diffrent web of beliefs and feelings and attitudes about things, I think thats what makes us diffrent in our success rates.

Currently training to master WILD.
LDs: 300+ probably
Perhaps I have been struggling to much, and that might be the problem. Oh, and though I have lately been having about 1 lucid dream a week, they typically only last a few minutes at most and often only seconds, if they would last long enough to allow me to do anything then I would probably be more satisified.
LD-ing once a week isn't bad... I can dream recall about every other day, but i only get like one LD every 1 or 2 months.
Dream Stats since joining:
DILDs: 3
DEILDs: 1
WILDs: 0

Getting down on yourself and insulting your inability to lucid dream hurts your ability to lucid dream, imo. Do you DILD only? Seems like it's not your thing. Have you tried WILD?
You also might try the placebo method. This means taking something that won't help you, and pretending that it will help you. For example, I got a couple LD's by taking a piece of chocolate, and pretending that it was a miraculous lucid dream chocolate bar. I think that's why some people swear by supplements, while others say that same supplement is worthless.
Also, not getting alot of sleep hurts your chances.

That's really weird, I had the same thing this one time on a houseboat when it was extremely hot. I had like 6 consecutive LDs on both nights out there. I'm talkin 90+ or 100+ degrees in a houseboat with no air conditioning... So yah, maybe this heat induced lucid really works.

THUG LIFE!!! Hah.
There is one thing that I wish to point out, and which has been very important to me. Lucid dreaming is NEVER about techniques... It is about INTENT. INTENT to dream Lucid Dreams someday. If you are intenting to have them(and I do not mean that you should be repeatin' "Tonight I will check out my hands and notice that I am dreaming") just by thinking that LD's are important to you, you will master them... I got no idea how long it takes, but you WILL master it... LD is only about dedication... Just have courage in your abilities to have Lucid Dreams, and believe that your subconsious can help you in the task to gain LD's.

I've had more WILD OBE experiences than DILD's. All of my WILD attempts (which work) end up as an OBE. This has been happening about once every week or two.
I occasionally have DILD's and they are not as OBE's but I just realize I am dreamining and very often immediately wake up. I've had a few DILD's that lasted perhaps up to 10 minutes, but it isn't happening enough. Methods usually don't work for me, or they only do a couple of times. Usually I just recongize something isn't right in a dream and know I'm dreaming.
I guess after reading these replies, I'm not doing that bad, I just wish I could have lucid dreams at will, and they would last as long as I wanted. Perhaps someday.
I have tried many supplements including Galantamine/choline, it worked twice out of 10 tries now, B6 works the best, DMAE worked after taking it a couple of weeks.
