I had my first intentional WILD just last night. What I did was just lay in bed until I almost fell asleep. Because that's the whole point of WILD, to fall asleep. The only difference is remaining conscious. I actually almost failed, but I was able to catch myself and enter SP consciously.
So basically, you don't need to try that hard. It's just like falling asleep normally, but with just a bit more consciousness than normal. If you try too hard, you will fail. If you don't try hard enough, you will also fail. Yes, it's a fine line, and it takes practice.
