I have the same problem -- chronic insomnia. However, my experiences will probably be diffrent from yours since I am very lucid and very good at remembering my dreams. So take this as what is possible.
Tylenol PM usually helps me sleep, but if I wait too long to take it I'll be groggy in the AM. So don't lay in bed for an hour before taking it. With it I have less dream recall from early in the night than usual (2-5 AM-ish). But I still have great recall and LD experiences from late in the night (the few hours right before I wake up). If I take it and still have a hard time falling right to sleep I have an increased chance of accidentally WILDing or having a FA.
So you might remember less dreams or have fewer LDs, but maybe not. Good luck!
