Congratulations simpsin.. you're getting closer! Hopefully it won't be long until you have a full-blown lucid dream that you can explore!![]()
So when I almost had my first LD, i realized i was dreaming, did a RC, but then woke up.
Last night, I was having a nightmare. I think my house had some poison gas inside or somthing so i ran outside. When i stepped outside it clicked again and I realized, this is impossible, I am dreaming. After realizing this everything didn't go black, like the first time. It just stayed the same, I was just aware. I jumped in hopes that i would start to fly. I failed and then tried again. I failed again. Then everything went black and it was over.
Both of these dreams happened within a week so im very very happy. =)

I have started doing them more now. Writing "are you dreaming?" on my finger has really helped. I also really try to pay attention to my surroundings all day and question if the situation seems possible because both times I became lucid it was becuase of a totally weird situation.

Have you ever levitated before in a dream? Yes, when you get a certain amount of practice with it, one can levitate from jump, or from stepping off a bridge or out a window.Originally posted by simpsin
I jumped in hopes that i would start to fly. I failed ...
But, ordinarily, one should levitate from a stationary position -- from the standing position, or, after gaining some power by intoning an AUM mantra, to lift off from a Lotus Position. I used to get down on the ground or the floor to assume the Lotus Position, but with practice one can simply pull one's legs up and one is levitating already.
If you have absolutely no luck with levitating, then you might try running with ever lengthening strides until you are taking several hundred feet with each stride -- that is virtually levitation. Once, in my pre-flight days, I had such a dream of taking these giant strides and, not looking far enough ahead, leapt out over the Grand Canyon... at first I was concerned but decided that then and there would be a good time to begin my first Flight, and so that is what I did.
