Yea actually, before I knew what an LD was, I still had them now and then, and one of my first major experiances of dream control, I was compelled to get out of my house as fast as possible.

It wasn't fear or anything, I was like 'omg, I have to see the sky', and ran for the door, like I was expecting to see something out there.

Maybe because you want to fly,

I don’t usually have lucid dreams that compel me to go outside......

I always have a strong desire to leave the house though (inside) if I realise I’m dreaming, so I can go into the garden (outside) and try out flying.

It could be a metaphor for your state of mind within the dream, the suggestion of being 'inside' and 'outside' might be relevant to your feelings. You feel much more relaxed when ‘outside’ because it doesn’t carry the same connotation as ‘inside’.

Like the idea “On the outside looking in”.

yeah dreams are supposed to be quite symbolic. i think they are our minds way of sorting out our problems in a creative and open way, so maybe its because you feel trapped or want to fly - like mystical journey said. if youre into dream symbols, check out carl jung and his works on archetypes

The majority of my lucid dreams always start with me in my house. These dreams occur in the morning when am in and out of sleep. Usually, I actually start in my bedroom and I can move around inside my house or I can go outside. I can travel through walls and do some levitating, nothing too exciting. I guess I should try to travel through a mirror or something...
More rarely though, when I realize I'm dreaming when I'm in a deep sleep during the night, I am usually in an unfamilliar setting and there is a lot more stuff to experiment with and observe.

Wouldn’t you consider that a sort of OBE?

I never seem to dream in my own house, its always new locations, i would love to experience the sensation of walking around my house in a dream.

No, I really don't consider it that at all. Right next to my house is my family's business, so there are usually a few people that surround the area, either workers, family members, or customers. I am always interacting with these people in these dreams, and it does not feel like reality. Nor do I have a silver chord or do I have to return to my bed to wake up.
I just think of it as a limitation of my imagination (not being able to conjer up a fantastic dream setting on command unless I become lucid through a dream in progress).

95% of my lucid dreams start where I'm sleeping.. and I too feel like I need to immediately get away from where I'm sleeping and go outside. I don't even consciously make this decision.. it's like I realize I'm dreaming and I automatically leave the house ASAP (either thru the ceiling or thru the wall or door).
