Although i've only know about lucid dreaming for 3/4ths of a year and have only had 2 lucid dreams yet, thats my goal. I want to try to be a better person trough it. I hope get to know myself better.
This is my first posting:
I have been investigating dreams and dreaming for the past forty years. I started in the 1960s after reading Carlos Castenda's first books. At that time I devised my own methods for "testing" based on my own needs and experiences. In 1989 I was introduced in Stephen Berger's book "Lucid Dreaming" and learned all his methods.
I am glad to see that many people are interested in lucid dreaming, and I wonder if there are other people on this message board who have some longevity of experience with this phenomenom. I am interested in the relationship between an increased lucidity in dreaming and an increased lucidity in waking life. Another way of saying this would be, do you think that the discipline of lucid dreaming self-examination can lead of a state of hightened emotional detachment in waking life?

WELCOME!
I have learned more of late to control my emotions, not forsake them, possibly through lucid dreaming, possibly with maturity.Originally posted by Peter

I've figured out that your envoirment plays an significant role on rather you are capable of LDing. If you are familiar with you sleeping enviorment and extrememly comfortable in your surroundings then LD's will be fairly an easy task. Otherwise in unfamilar sleep settings you lose your LD capability by a factor of 10.
