My dry spell has finally ended! ;-)

Halle FREAKIN' lujah.. my dry spell is over!!
I would like to personally thank SEEKER who helped make this all possible!

Seeker had stated in a couple of posts that you should ALWAYS do a reality check when you first wake up because you never know when you might really still be asleep. I actually told myself before I went to bed last night that no matter what I was going to RC whenever I woke up. Seeker, you were so right!

Below are the details of my lucid dream:

I had just woken up this morning and was writing down my non-lucid dream. My husband was snoring softly but loud enough that it was starting to bother me.
I gave him a slight push and told him "honey you're snoring" and he rolled over. I kept replaying the non-lucid dream over and over in my mind trying to gather more bits and pieces of it. I remembered what Seeker had said about always doing a reality check when you wake up because you could be dreaming. I told myself I should really do a RC but then I talked myself out of it because I just KNEW that I was awake! I actually DEBATED for a couple of minutes stating that if I did the nose pinch test that the movement would wake me up ( .. I know.. hey I was sleepy!).

I finally told myself to just DO THE DAMN TEST and I pinched my nose. I could breathe but I still wasn't convinced I was asleep. I thought maybe I didn't pinch my nose closed good enough.. so I did it again and I could still breath.

I now believe that I'm dreaming but I didn't feel the adrenaline rush that I normally get when I WILD and become lucid.. it was kind of matter of fact.

I backed slowly off my bed wondering if I would wake up my husband but then I realized that my body really wasn't moving so that was a mute point. I can't recall if I passed thru the wall or just willed myself to appear on the other side of it but I found myself outside.

It was still dark out and the air was crisp and there were stars in the sky. My level of lucidity wasn't really vivid (it just all appeared pretty normal) and I didn't bother trying to enhance it. I flew around for a while and then decided to swim (I have little recollection of these activities other than to know that I did them as they happened earlier in the dream and I have more memory of what happened after my second false awakening). I have come to the decision that QUALITY is better than QUANTITY when it comes to LDs. I always try to keep my LDs going as long as possible but this only serves to dilute my recollection of what happens earlier. I mean I ALWAYS remember the moment I become lucid and how I reacted and I always remember the LAST minutes of the dream but I lose alot of the details of the earlier portions if the dream goes on for too long. Does anyone else notice this about their LDs? From now on when I experience something that I want to remember I am going to end the dream (no matter how short it may be) and write down the details.

Ok.. I thought I'd woken up but just for "grins", I thought I'd pinch my nose and discovered I could still breathe! I find myself in a kitchen and hear women in the next room. They appear to be having a get-together of some kind (possibly brunch). I remember reading a post asking if you can smell things in a LD and I see that there is fruit on the table. I bypass the orange and the grapefruit and pick up a granny (green) apple. I lift it to my nose and take a deep breath.. it smells exactly as I expected it to (no more - no less). I then take a bite and taste the tangy tartness of it and think to myself.. ok now I know and I can report my findings back to the forum.

I wondered if I could change my appearance from male to female and if my dream characters would notice. I walked up to a woman and she greets me. She turned away and I thought "I am now male". She turned back around and I could tell by the way she acted that she now saw me as a male! We started talking to the other women in the room and the dream ended.

I am soooo happy.. it had been over a month since my last LD and I didn't have to get up at 3:30 am, go to my couch, stay awake for awhile, try to WILD.. NONE of that! I was able to lay in my own bed, replay a previous dream, FIGHT myself into doing a reality check and become lucid.

Once again.. thank you Seeker! (CRAP I bit the apple but forgot to bob for it)

I am happy for you; it's been what?... two months? I hope you have many more lucid dreams soon, after that long of a dry spell.
...and I really don't care if I never wake up again

Good going. I think you had an unexpected DILD. You are so used to WILDs that you were not even expecting to have a DILD. I do reality check every hour or more. But now I'm going to do them when I wake up. Thanks for sharing that with use.

That's awesome!! I hope my dry spell ends REALLY soon!

I can't prove it now, but about a month or so ago I think I may have had a gazillion false awakenings one morning. It was one night I ended up staying up REALLY late. I didn't get to bed til well after 4am. My husband's alarm went off shortly after 5 and he hit the snooze several times, keeping me awake, along with his snoring. Finally by 6:30 am I sort of fell into a light sleep, but kept waking up every little while because one of the babies kept crying. I'd go sooth them back to sleep, climb back into bed and try and go back to sleep once again. This happened goodnessknows how many times as they obviously weren't sleeping very well. By 8:30am, I ended up giving up on trying to get to sleep, figured I had about an hour and a half and got up for the day.

Strange thing is I really wasn't that tired during the day and didn't go to bed later that night until well after midnight, and even than I still wasn't tired. 2 hours of sleep I should of been dead to the world. That's the only reason I keep wondering if it was a serious of FAings.
