They key to anything related to lucid dreaming is such: practice + confidence + a little bit of imagination thrown in. I used to be able to do some cool things in my (non-lucid) dreams when I was younger, but I, too, lost that ability for some reason.

I would recommend that you decide specifically what you want to do in your dream the next time you become lucid. Then, just do it (thank you, Nike). Don't spend your time thinking, "I hope this works," or "What if this doesn't work?" It will if you don't think about it too much. And the more you practice at it, the better you'll become. Just keep at it!

in a lucid dream, you really gotta believe in those powers! if youre having trouble, try to experience those powers in a new and exciting way. dont just tell yourself you are going to use a power - try to feel it

before you even try to use the fire blast..try to feel the energy forming in your hand. tell yourself the energy is hot. feel the energy growing, watch the orange hot fire form. hear it crackle, sizzle, and pop! THEN, you can toss it and torment an innocent tree. *evil >=/*

and yell if you have to "FIIIIIIIIIREEEEEEEEEE BLASSSSSSSSSSTTTT!!"

summoning an item is all about believing you can summon an item. but if youre still having trouble in that department, try something different. why not try to..pull out the desired item from your pocket? lots of surprises in a pocket! even if it is something to big, like a motorcycle - you can just super size it after finding it in your pocket.

    I hope this helps

If you become lucid, remind yourself that it is YOUR dream, no one elses and YOU are in control.

Try spinning and convincing yourself that when you come out of it that you will have control etc... it's all about being in charge of the dream

I think this is the best advice so far. Alot of times when I don't have much control in my lucids, it's because they are almost too real. It seems that our mind plays tricks on us and no matter how much we think "I'm going to make a fire ball!" ...our mind is like...are you crazy? You can't do that.

It's only certain types of lucids when this happens. I also suggest that the best way to escape this is to try dream spinning into another scenario. Usually when you do this you will end up somewhere where you will have more control.

I've sort of noticed a pattern that the more realistic my lucids are, the less control I have. And the more obscure and somewhat fuzzy or absurd my lucids are, the more control I have. I think dream spinning will work because it usually puts you into a more "unrealistic" dreamscape.

    Good luck.

To try to control what's happening in the dream is of no value. You should seek only to control your own behavior.

The best thing any lucid dreamer can do is to learn how to wake himself up in case something bad starts to happen. That's the control you really need.

I can awaken myself by jerking my head or my right leg.
