    Question for the experts.

So, I am slowly getting better at becoming Lucid and staying Lucid. I am almost up to a minute now...... The problem is that whenever I become Lucid, there is nothing going on. It is usually just me in an empty room. Or an empty house. I can see how it will become more natural to simply "will" things into your dreams, but as it is right now, that is what pulls me out of lucidity. I see how baron my dreamscape is and I feel overwhelmed with the urge to.... make something happen... Then I usually wake up.

So, I guess my question would be... Did any of you go through the same thing? I assume it will all sort out as I become able to stay Lucid for longer periods of time. But I was just looking for some reassurance I guess.

The next time that happens, shout out as loudly as you can, "Can anyone hear me?"

Just keep shouting that as loudly as you can.

If no one answwer by the fourth time you've shouted it, then focus on an inanimate object and ask it a question, and see whether it answers you.

You can also close your eyes and try to imagine yourself somewhere else, like New York City or something.

Or you can kick down one of the walls of the room and see what's on the other side.

well, i'm far from an expert, but i often have lucids which start in rather barren environments.

if indoors, stabilize your lucidity, and then open a door expecting it to give access to an interesting dreamscape, without straining or overthinking.

I see how baron my dreamscape is and I feel overwhelmed with the urge to.... make something happen... Then I usually wake up[/b]
i've found that while learning (which i certainly still am...most of my lucids are only 1-3 minutes long) it is best to allow the dream to happen to you moreso than trying to create or influence an entire dream by will alone.

good to see you progressing, and posting
    sweet dreams.

I remember when i first started becomming lucid...some of the same problems occured...

Dreams happen to us, and we can guide them, but ultimately we cannot control the unconscious right away because we live mostly in the conscious...

Just never close your eyes...i dunno, that was what took me to strange places or woke me up.

It's all about expecting a person to be somewhere. You said you were in a room, right? Walk up to one of the doors, and open it full well expecting another person to be there waiting for you.

Confidence is key. It is really the only way to get your dreams to that next level. Still, that's a hard thing to maintain. Just keep journaling, and know, don't believe, but know that you can do anything within one of your dreams.

    Good luck!

I know it will just take more time and practice. Believe me, I am trying... I have "willed" someone to be in a room once, but as soon as it happened, of course I woke up. I have tried going to another environment by opening a door and of course, as soon as I turned the knob, I woke up. I know it is just the excitement of knowing what I am doing and the anticipation of seeing what will happen.

I think that I am a bit slower developing these skills than a lot of people. Not a big deal to me, I just need to keep practicing.

    Thanks for the responses.

No problem buddy. The more you ld the longer and more stable your ld's will become. It sounds to me like you're on the right track at the moment. Just keep up your confidence, and keep journaling.

Let me know if you try what I suggested, and what the results were.

I will try it the next time. I haven't been lucid since the original post, so.... Honestly though, I have never talked in my Lucid Dreams, so shouting may be a difficult challenge for me. I think that deep down, I know I am sleeping and I am afraid of yelling in my sleep.

We shall see. It will make for a good challenge as well. Good to have goals.

    Hi Carlhungis-

You've come face-to-face with "the void", a common occurrence in LD. What is not so common is it happening before you dream of people, objects etc. It usually comes after that, later.

...but you're using it in a positive way, practicing your lucidity etc. Unless you can conjure up another scenario, I couldn't think of a better thing to do with it than what you're doing.

It looks like you're gonna be fine. However, don't forget that what you expect is what you get in dreams. If you think shouting will be difficult in your dreams, it will be. There is no reason to think that though, since you've probably talked in real life before... I assume. O.o
Just realize that you've got nothing hard ahead of you. Nothing to be afraid of.

Same goes for when you say things like: "when I willed someone into the dream, I of course woke up". The fact that you said of course indicates that this is what you were expecting to happen. If that was the case, then this will most likely have been the only cause for you to wake. So keep that in mind. It always works that way with every kind of dream control. Nothing is as hard as you think it to be in dreams.
    A dream
is a reality that others cannot see.
    Reality
is a dream you share with others.
