I had this kind of LD. Now I seem to know why it happened. I performed a reality check, it was like real life. So I assumed I was in real life, yet I absolutely knew I'm dreaming... and I had no control...
I have been making progress. I somehow created two dreamsigns and I allways go lucid when I notice them, jumping really high and spinning really fast. After I go lucid I think to myself ok cool time to have fun. For example in my dream last night I distinctly remember trying to get something to appear after I jumped onto this 30 ft rockand went lucid. No matter how hard I tried nothing would happen.I then had a false awakening. It seems recently like I have been losing more and more control over what happens after I gain lucidity. Anyone have any pointers

The concious is the ruler of the waking life.
The subconcious is the ruler of the sleeping life.
When the concious steps onto the ground of the subconcious, during a LUCID DREAM, the subconcious gets territorial, and fights back, or rather tries to make sense of what the hell is happening.
My suggestion: Try to help the concious out a little more, with verbal commands, and realization of the dream.

Yes, self-verbal commands are very effective, try those out next time.
It basically just seems like your concious mind had not really taken over. It could have happened because you are new at this, or because you had a tiring day, and your concious mind mostly shuts down. Happens to me a lot.
try rubbing your hands together in a dream, this seems to focus it. Also, if you know you're dreaming, and can't do anything with it, try realizing that you CAN. It is because you believe that you can't that your subconscious shows you that you can't.

Last night I was having a dream about being chased by a dog and I thought to myself this is too weird it must be a dream. Then I went lucid but couldnt think of anything i wanted to do really so I just started playing video games. It was mario bros and the level would change every 5 seconds cause it was a dream and I stopped cause it was really annoying. Then I started thinking about how I was really laying in my bed and it instantly faded and i woke up.
What are self-verbal commands? Is that like saying your name in the dream? I tried that once and I remember I was in my house and the dream became so vivid and real even though I was lucid I had to perform another reality check. I ended up just walking around my house astonished that my mind was creating this.
The rubbing my hands thing never works cause in my dream I never see my body.
self verbal commands is just telling yourself you're able to do something you can't do in a dream. Like if you were trying to ooze thru a wall to see what's on the other side but the wall is hard and you can't get thru it, you might try saying out loud "Let me through" or "I have the power to go thru." I kind of look at it like dream prayer. Honestly, I think you have to do more than just say it to make it true. I think you have to believe it to make it true, unless saying it makes you believe it, then you can just say it. Anyway, that is my opinion and experience.

Once soon after I got lucid, I found myself in a car, travelling a long distance and I had no control over what happened. I didn't try verbal commands etc... next time it happens I will try.
Trying going lucid and then jumping off a high ass building. When you hit the ground notice what happens. You didn't die. THis should give you some impowerment.
Just a suggestion, I don't know if it will actually work but it should.

When you Know, you will have power.
Self doubt is in my experience the biggest limitation in my abilities, however, in time you will over come it as I have and gain confidence in the dream world and interestingly enough here too...
Start small, bend the rules not break them, thats why jumping really high usualy works, you are only really bending the rules....Then again the more and more science digs the more they are realising the physical laws of the universe can be bent... here in this reality.
You have to try to stop and thing, its hard in dream, but try to rationalise what you just did, Wholy crap.. Ijust jumped 30 feet.. If I can do that... what else can I do?
Its hard to explain, but I will try Once you have made a really big jump, and you realise you are dreaming try it again when you are at the apex... try and hold yourself there, feel your body throw off the bonds of gravity, feel yourself pulling upwards and not jumping upwards, hold your arms out to the sides and feel yourself lifting up higher, use your imagination, its boundless, you just need to unlock it.
Another good exercise is to hold your hands about a foot apart in front of you and imagine energy rushing into the space between them and focusing into one tiny point. Dont get frustrated, it may take some time, just let the energy flow to that point and push and cram it into that tiny spot, it will begin to feel warm, and you will feel that it is pushing your hands apart resist this and keep pushing the energy into that point. It will then suddent spark into light, as the energy starts to bleed off into the visible spectrum, starting at a dull red and then willl increase through the spectrum of light shifting colors.
And the most important thing for any lucid dreamer to know is
Impossible is only that which has yet to be imagined.

His heart knows only virtue.
His blade defends the helpless.
His might upholds the weak.
His word speaks only truth.
His wrath undoes the wicked."
