By having an LD of course.
Oh noes! Paradox!
hey people. for some reason i have not been able to LD properly, even though i keep an active dream journal and i get a good night's sleep. so far i have been told its because i subconsciously doubt myself, but HOW DO I CHANGE MY SUBCONSCIOUS OPININIONS????
By having an LD of course.
Oh noes! Paradox!
you can even think subconsciously?? wow..
so.. you can think consciously, subconsciously..? what else are you able ? unconsciously thinking is possible?![]()
RealityChecking, meditation, Q3 map making, cars, girls
Just relax and ignore everything you have been told.
Believe that you are able to and abolish preconceptions. Just focus on lucid dreaming and that you are going to do so and can do so. Any other thing added to this will likely distort your ability to do so. Take everything on the site as suggestions to consider for your dreaming; not methods that allow you to lucid dream.
Realizing that you are the one that ultimately gives lucidity is the actual true means to lucidity; everything else is simply structuring how to reach that realization.

If you can remember your dreams now then you will have an LD. I look at it as not like be afraid of diving off a diving board where you don't think you can do it like that. LDs aren't like that. The first couple Lds just kinda happen and thinking that you won't have one won't really affect random DILDs. Maybe WILDs since you might give up. Just relax, keep thinking about LDs, do some reality checks, and you're guarenteed an LD soon.

Just dont think on anything you are ever told, Onus is absolutely right. Keep a clear mind as you were when you first started. Every person is different people tell you things based on their own experiences and opinions... It does not apply to you.![]()

You say you've been TOLD it's because you subconsciously doubt yourself. That doesn't mean it was true before, but maybe your thinking it has made it so. Just be confident and don't get worked up about it. Take a break from LDing if you have to. It will come eventually.
Anyways, you ARE god incarnate, so it shouldn't be too hard...
dude, it's just a name. i picked it cus it sounds cool. anyway, thanks onus youre a lot of help, man.
arby. you are an idiot.
That's exactly the only way to change your subconscious mind for sure. Other than that I recommend reading through my lucid dream journal and just letting your subconsious know that it's possible because other people are doing it. Also TwoShadows', BillyBob's, Clairity's...
Maybe also reading Dr LaBerge's book will help, he explains how it is scientifically proven that it's possible to lucid dream (he gave preagreed upon eye movements within his dreams when he became lucid.)
Reading up on lucid dreaming at night usually causes me to have a DILD.
thanks ninja, appreciate it.

It was a joke.
Anyways, if the problem persists and you don't LD and think it's because of your subconscious, why not try a technique like WILD that involves staying conscious? That way you'll have an LD, and the doubt will (hopefully) be gone with the confidence you gain.
thanks people, appreciate it!
Its pretty simple, people don't appreciate how powerful the mind is. Your mind knows it doubts it. Have you ever heard of affirmations? They are verbal things you say, like "I can do a very good job on my presentation today". They are often used for goals. they are scientifically proven to help with achieving what you want.
Essentially what your doing is the opposite. You know the power of your mind, otherwise you would not be on this website. You know if you believe you can have a lucid dream, you will, but at the same time you know if you think you cant, you wont. Achieving a lucid dream is like control, you know if you believe 100% you can do whatever you want, you can, but if the little bit of you thinks, it wont happen if i don't think it will, you make that impossible.
So you need to look at it the other way, literally anything is possible for a dream, if you think it can happen, it is that simple, same with getting a lucid dream.
Beyond the "train of thought" i don't know if you have tried WBTB, but they are one of the most consistent methods you can use, go to the tutorials and read about it.
