      I have to wake up to an alarm clock Monday through Friday to get to school.
      The alarm clock goes...
      BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZT!!!!!&#3 3;!
      OMFGBZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZTTT!!!&#3 3;
      MOFMOFMFOGMOFMOFMOGMOZBZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!& #33;

      It is the loudest, worst, most EVIL alarm clock in the world. When I try to lower the volume it doesn't wake me up, and now I'm afraid to try dropping the volume any more because I REALLY don't want to jeopardize my chances of getting to school on time, you know?

      Anyway, whenever I wake up from my alarm clock ("BZZOMFGZZZT"), it's like the dream is RIPPED from my mind. I seriously feel like my brain is being torn from my subconscious or whatever.
      And when I'm torn from it my recall is ZAPPED. All I can remember is the setting and maybe some of the people. But it's all like photographs, right? I can sorta picture a frame of my dream and maybe a few people.
      Like in last nights case, I can recall two people walking down an orangey, dim-lit hallway going to meet me in a room.

      I hate it!
      Anyone know some happier and nicer detours to this? (BTW, the trick of "Just lay in bed after you wake up and think about your dream" can NOT work for me because the second I close my eyes after I wake up I'm totally sleeping again.)

      If you're getting enogh sleep you should be able to tell yourself when you need to wake up without having to use an alarm clock. You might try going to bed earlier.

      i find going to bed around 10:30 - 11:00 is a reasonable time to wake up, i dont need a alarm clock to get up and i wake up around 7:30am usually. i only ever use my alarm clock to wake up when WILDing. (set for 3am).

      I know just what you feel. Every week day I wake up at 6.00 to catch my early bus, and my alarm clarks drives me insanse. Whenever I'm dreaming or have a thought on my mind, the alarm clock always immietly makes me forget it immedietly, though I always realized I was just thinking about something.
      However, the thought/dream almost always come back to me later in the day, so it isn't too much of a problem for me.

      try this free software. http://www.ornj.net/citrus/ . You can set it to start playing an mp3 at the specified time. You can set multiple alarms, to play mutiple mp3s. Try setting it to play a lucid induction mp3. at 4 am. YOu can set it to fade the music in over a certain time period. For instance you can fade music in over 5 minute period.

      My clock used to do that, but then i switched it to play the radio to wake me up. A classical station provides the softest wake-ups. But I'm also on the lookout for a cd alarm clock. This is the best type, because you choose the music

      I was thinking about buying this alarmclock myself. I also hate to be awakened abruptly. This thing wakes you with gradually increasing nature sounds and with gradually increasing light (to mimick sunrise in your bedroom when you want it.)
      The only thing I don't like about it is that it cannot play mp3 or cd, only presets and radio.

      This one wakes me up when nothing else will , plus it has a 4 minute snooze button that automatically resets itself everytime it is pressed, although it is a bit difficult to find the snooze button when you are half asleep . It is sold at several places on the internet so check around for the best price. The top folds down so that you can put it right underneath your pillow: http://www.epill.com/sonicshaker.html

      My alarm clock is murder, it looks like a regular digital one with a beep but its got a big bell inside which rings so loud it wakes everyone in the house, i find that i always manage to wake up about 5-10 seconds before it goes off to turn it off its weird stuff. But i hate that clock, i got stressed with it about a year ago and i punched the front and the plastic casing fell right off.

      Your subconscious hates that clock too (which is why it wakes you up BEFORE it has a chance to go off)! :p

      Haha, my subconscious must like to torment me because I used to wake up before my alarm clock goes off. Now, I don't and when it does go off I wake up so pissed off at the noise it makes that I've thrown it against the wall and off my nightstand in a hurry to turn it off. Too bad it's still working just fine... I hate the annoying beepbeepbeep so much I cringe when TV shows or ads include the noise. Not only do I loat hit in general, it causes me to forget a lot of my dreams because my main focus suddenly becomes "turn that thing off before I scream" and I lose certain things of a dream or as whole dream in general... It's a real pain...

      Hahah, all these alarm clocks sound like mine. Mine has a really, REALLY obnoxious high pitched dee-dee, dee-dee etc. I hate it. Fortunately I also have a radio setting, the trouble being is that I can turn that off in my sleep. However I trick my subconscious by turning the clock around or on its side so that I have to wake up fully to work out how to turn it off. Ooh also putting my DJ on top of it works well as I touch the DJ and remember to write down my dreams.

      I use an radio alarm clock and I set it to a chanel that's a mixture of static and soft rock. I used to have it set to an (actual) classical station, but that made me dislike classical music, because I always associated getting up with classical music whenever I did that. I think the mixture of static and music works really well. I don't know why.

      I'm in the same situation, except it is my children that rip me from my dreams in the middle of the night. Even if they don't wake up all the way, every noise they make wakes me up and I feel like I'm being yanked!
