It could be true. His painting's are extremely dream-like. However, I find that my alarm clock works just fine![]()
Give it a try, It would be interesting to hear your results.
I seem to remember hearing a while back (and keep in mind this could be completely fabricated--I have no recollection of where this came from) that Salvador Dali would fall asleep holding a piece of silverware in his hand, hanging by the side of the bed over a plate. Once he reached REM state, he would drop the silverware onto the plate which would wake him up, recalling his dream, which he would then paint.
I have no idea about the validity of this, nor have I tried it myself. What about everyone here? Has anyone tried this or heard of this? Am I insane and made it all up?

Are you dreaming or awake?

seems like that would wake you up much too soon. i like waking up at the end of the REM cycle.

Well, it's interesting that's for sure. I don't think it would be effective though. However, I haven't tried it, so I don't really know..

yeah I agree with that. I doubt or it will work as good as an alarm. Only bad side is that you don't know or you will fall asleep in seconds or hours... So, drop a piece of siverwear on the timer of an alarm clock so you wake up in about 30 minutesOriginally posted by mongreloctopus

why would he drop it during REM sleep and not when he first falls asleep??? None of that really makes sense, I thought right when you fall asleep your body becomes totally limp? Either your memory misled you, there is more to it than you said, or it was another one of Dali's attention garnering statements.
