I have searched the board and found this old post: http://www.dreamviews.com/forum/inde...=418&hl=father

I have been practicing at dream recall for a couple of weeks now and met my father three times. He died almost three years ago. In the first dream he was at the hospital on a wheel-chair, and this actually happened in real life during his last months. In the second one, at the end, i hugged my father and started to intensely cry, and those tears i never shed in real life, not even when he passed away. I think they are still inside of me. In the third, tonight, he was just sitting on the other side of a long wooden table, together with other people, and we were all listening to radio news.

Now that i am keeping a dream journal my father is showing up quite often, and i think he could be a dream sign. Before keeping the journal i had a really bad dream recall and dreamt of him maybe twice a year or something like that.

Except for tonight, in the first two dreams i was feeling bad, a mix of fear and sorrow, and in the first one i was also a bit disappointed with him as i did not like the victim role he was playing in the dream.

I will see what happens in the next weeks. Thanks for reading.

I can relate to this. My father died just over a year ago, and I have been having dreams about him with some frequency. I wish I could use it as a dream sign, but the dreams are always so upsetting (it seems I'm always yelling at him about something) that my mind doesn't analyze what's going on.

The same thing happened to me when my friend commited suicide. For about a month afterwards I'd keep having dreams about him. About half of them were sad because he died in them again, and the other half I'd ask him how he was alive again. (Actually I got some pretty funny excuses by asking this)

Check out my journal entry this morning - my deceased mother-in-law induced lucidity for me.

While I often "see" deceased relatives in dreams, this is the first time one has been a functional dreamsign. I was and am delighted.

Yeah the same thing happened to me when I lost my grandmother as a child. I guess when you loose someone close to you they stay inprinted on your subconscious for a great deal of time. Even when you loose someone not even to death but if you haven't seen someone close to you for a great deal of time then they will come up quite frequently in your dreams.
