      Detailed dream recall

I've read people's dream recalls, and they're so detailed! When I remember my dreams, I can only remember a few key things. Also, some people seem to write a whole novel about their dream, like it must've gone on for a long time. It seems like I have short dreams, or maybe I'm only remembering like less than five minutes of it. It's very frustrating because I'd like to remember my dreams in detail.

I write down my dreams as soon as I wake up, so the lack of detail isn't from waiting too long to record them.

Is there anyway to improve my dream recall other than continuous practice?

Well, I believe that different people, depending on the kind of lifestyles they live, notice different things in their dreams. Some people may be more apt to notice colors or clothing. I, personally, mostly notice emotions, actions, and characters; I also notice my environment, though I can't seem to remember too many details about it.

Also, sometimes I may have a long dream but only be able to write a few things about it, or have a short dream but recall the details vividly and therefore write down a lot. More often than not, though, things are constantly chaning so I have more to write about to take in all of those changes. Just write down what you can remember and don't get frustrated if it's not as much as you would like. Your recall will continue to grow if you are persistent in writing your dreams down every morning.

I think it is luck alot of the time.

Sometimes I have had 3 dreams a night and be able to remember them all and alot about them.

Lately, I have been having dreams and remembering very little.

For instance a few nights ago, I remember dreaming that my computer got a virus. I cant remember what from. I cant remember what I was doing. All I remember is seeing my computer and somehow knowing it had a virus.

I didnt even remember the dream until 1 hour after I woke up and started a virus scan!

Haha that reminds me of me. Haha. Sometimes I won't remember a dream until I'm about to tell my dad about something that happened, and then I think, 'Wait, this didn't really happen. Did I dream it?'

I'm pretty pleased though because this morning I wrote a fairly detailed dream in my dream journal. The weird thing to me, though, was that I couldn't remember the part of the dream that was right before I woke up. I remembered best the things at the beginning of the dream, which I would think should be the more hazy part.

Sometimes I think like "oh darn I haven't done my science essay" and then realize "hey... it was assigned in a dream." (and I sigh in relief) It's weird how sometimes it becomes meshed with reality

M-Cat, don't you just love the feeling that comes once you realise that it was assigned to you in the dream? I remember when I was in primary school, I had a "false awakening," and it went very long, as it actually kept going till I arrived at school. I was quite bored, until I woke up, and realised that it was the first day of the holidays/term-break.
Man, was I happy! Not as happy as when I get a lucid dream though!

Yeah, definitely. Sometimes I'm glad to be back in reality. Wish it was like that all the time.
