I'm just gonna be mister obvious here and simply advise waking up 5-10 minutes earlier and devoting that time to recall. If that's unacceptable in terms of amount of sleep, then go to bed that much earlier as well. If this is unacceptable due to a TV show you watch (The only imaginable reason it would be) then...try to think about anything you remember in your dreams during the day. This will eventually lead to recalling more and more details.
And if you're one of those kinds of people who see a free hour in their weekly planner, or what have you, and fills it with some other selfless activity because that's how you were programmed as a child more than likely due to child abuse or trauma, then I believe being as DV just might not be for you...
(These people exist...)
