      Lightbulb MILD (Music?)

Hey guys, I was just re-reading what TheSixthSide said in this thread here.

...When suddenly a great idea hit me, that is, if it hasn't been done before.

I could make a simple MP3 file, that was about 8 hours long that was completely silent except from 4.5, 6 and 7.5 hours into the track where a fairly quiet but very distinct sound will play several times.

This could work amazingly! (I think) I'm guessing that it could, as when you're deeply asleep and your alarm clock goes off, a lot of the time I think it's an alarm in my dream, if I listened to this sound as some sort of reality check before I went to bed, then it could be really good.

This could be a really effective and cash-saving alternative to the Nova Dreamer, could be played on your stereo/PSP/iPod, whatever.

Has this been done before? Sorry for sounding like a complete IDIOT if this is a common use If not, AILD sounds ok (Audio-Induced Lucid Dream) hahaha

      Talk to me?
      Thanks,
      Jim.

Sounds good to me actually as long as the noise wasn't to loud or lasted very long. I always hear my alarm cock in my dream before I wake up, but it bugs me way too much so I have to get up and shut it off. Although there might be some alternative to this. An 8 Hour MP3 is very very long lmao. How about a 90 minute version that can be set on repeat?

Yea, I suppose a 90 minute one would work better Has no one thought of this idea before? :S

I think it seems like there's going to be some experimenting going on here to find out correct volumes and lengths of time the noise should play.

I'll make the file myself sometime, I mgiht get started on it now actually, when/if I can get it to work then I'll post a link to it here on the forums

Yes, I made a 90 min. "blank" file in a .wav editor and put a chime at the end, then I just set it on loop on my disc player, no matter what I did I could NEVER "hear" the chime unless it startled me awake. I kind of abandoned the idea, but theoretically it could work, IF you had the right chime sound that wasn't too alarming. I used the chimes at the start of MINISTRY's Rio Grande Blood.. perhaps that was too soft a chime for low volume. I also left it running on a loop on my daughter's computer in the dining room all day long so that everytime I heard that chiming I would do a reality check, I was kind of conditioning myself for it, but as I said I never heard it unless it woke me.

Could be promising though, if anyone else tries anything that might be helpfull please post about it.

Wow, looks like it will take me a lot of expierimenting
After reading that I've actually made a 90 minute file already, instead of using a chime or a flowing noise, I've used several, very high pitched beeps. If I've got this right, then it wont be so loud as to startle me and wake me up, but a distinct, sharp noise that will (hopefully) get noticed by me whilst I'm asleep.

Thanks for everyone's input, I'm trying it tonight, so I'll report back to everyone with how it went
      Cheers,
      Jim

I generally go to bed with music, so one night I decided to put together a play list of all chill music except for The Celebration of the Lizard, by The Doors, which I conditioned myself into using as a reality check. It worked very well, I became pseudo lucid and just had crazy all around dreams. You'll know why if you know the song at all. This was just a small experiment I tried for a few days with decent success. I'm sure if you worked at really conditioning yourself whenever you heard a particular sound or song it could work a lot more effectively.

Yea :O sounds like a smart idea, I found that the volume and pitch etc is quite hard to perfectly achieve, I woke up after several times the sound played =/
I think I might try your idea, sounds more logical and I might not wake up
      Cheers,

I remember having a dream and hearing music, i set my ipod dock to wake me up with a playlist i made, first song was Bond Of Blood - Bathory (great viking metal) and i was driving a car or something through the air and the car was basically gliding along with the beat of the song. It was awesome. Im gonna try it tonight.

Most probably gonna have a nightmare with the music i put on though =P

My playlist which im going to put together:

      Bond Of Blood - Bathory
      Slave Labor - Fear Factory
      Only Ash Remains - Necrophagist
As The Palaces Burn - Lamb Of God

      then just one chill song

Flying On The Wings Of Steam - Tweaker

then to hopefully make me aware im dreaming...

      Stigma Diabolicum - Belphegor

then some songs that will go with what i want to do when im dreaming

540,000 Degrees Fahrenheit - Fear Factory
      Fuel - Metallica
      Legacy Of Kings - Hammerfall
Run To The Hills - Iron Maiden
      Sucked In - Jerk
Full Metal Contact - Fear Factory

one last song to get my awareness again

As He Creates, So He Destroys - Nile

      then chill music/not so heavy

      Ascension - Fear Factory
      Snow (Hey Oh) - RHCP
Death Of A Martian - RHCP
      Wet Sand - RHCP
Make You Feel Better - RHCP

      Should go good i hope.

Oh, lol. I just had this idea around 5 seconds ago on another topic thread.

      (ambeint music)

I hope it's possible, I'll try it out tonight. If it was, I would do it everyday.
