First off, you are having dreams. Trust me.

Secondly, you are probably not remembering to remember your dreams when you first wake up.

Dreams can be very emotional. At the least, when you wake up, try and note whatever emotions you are feeling upon awakening. This may be better achieved after 4-6 hours of sleep. (More likely to wake up mid-dream.) Fromt here, dream recall in general should improve.

I go for periods where I don't remember any dreams. For me, it's either that I'm not getting enough sleep or I'm kind of stressed out. I just go back to telling myself to remember my dreams as I'm falling asleep and I get over it.

Yeah, I'm having the same problem.
I usually only remember about 1 or 2 dreams during the week, but
on the weekend, I remember most, if not all my dreams.
It's just an up and down pattern you must deal with.

I am pretty sure I read something where when you wake up if you move you are likely to erase the memory of your dream. Upon waking up, recall your dream before getting up or turning over.

I wouldnt worry about moving to switch your alarm off. I move quite a bit when waking up i.e strechting, and remember dreams fine. But i do find if i get out of bed quickly, like if im late for work or the phone rings, i dont remember anything. Ive put this down to having something else on your mind before your previous dream, like 'shit i gota get up, get dressed and find my keys quick, or talking on the phone. This will erase the fleeting memory of your previous dream.

So just always try to think of what you have just dreamt about BEFORE anything else.

If I get up too quickly I forget dreams as well, but subtle movements don't seem to effect me either. Although I find that throughout the day I'll suddenly get a vivid memory of an occurrence in my dream.
