      Question Remembering Dreams

For the past few days, as soon as I wake up, I will think of the dreams I had that night and record them in a memo on my mobile phone. This is handy, as it stops me forgetting my dreams during the day.

However, it can be a bit strange sometimes. For example, I remember last night I had a dream containing the phrase 'Behind The Hall'. So I recorded that on my phone when I woke up. However, earlier, when I went to record that into my dream journal, I'd completely forgotten everything about the dream other than 'Behind the wall'.

What would you guys say the best way to remember your dreams is?

      Cheers,

Keep doing what you're doing. Allow yourself to talk on and on for an extended period of time and try to record every single detail. Over time your recall will get better if you keep doing this every day.

Like cacoph noted. Try and write down every last detail that you can remember. Just writing short phrases is very risky. it is truly amazing how easy dreams are to forget.

Yeah, it is. It's also amazing how the smallest thing during the day can remind us of our dreams. I just woke up like 2 hours ago, I had this longgggg dream with my girlfriend. I thought that was it. But I spoke to my friend and he reminded me that I'm supposed to return something to his mom, and upon mentioning his mother, a HUGE scene flashed through my eyes. I then recalled that this was a dream in which I was sitting next to his mom in a funeral, because he was killed in action. Upon realizing what this huge flashback was, I was devasted with emotion, it truly was a crazy dream. (My friend is a marine, btw.)

Anyways, when I take notes about my dreams, I take little notes on every major thing so I can write it in detail later.
      Lucid dreams, gotta love em.

I find it helps to remind myself at night, as I am falling asleep. No need for complicated autosuggestion stuff. I just say to myself, "I will rememeber my dreams tonight." Or something similar. Then, I picture myself waking up in the middle of the night and writing in my dream journal right away.
