      Sketchings

      Just curious-

Does anyone sketch their dreams on paper once they have them?
Would this increase recall, or help recognize dream sings, if you drew them out?

I remember drawing maps and diagrams in my dream journal long time ago. I dont do it anymore.
My dreams are too complex now...

Edit: I almost forgot - once I drew a mystical creature which was revealed to me while high... It was like an elephant with multiple trunks and each trunk was a tunnel... And it feed on careless tripping people...

I used to try to produce sketchings and paintings of some inspirational dream frames..I try to freeze a still frame of the subject i want to reproduce...I find this very difficult to concentrate on..I came up with some very interesting art to say the least.

I do sometimes. Dreams tend to inspire my writing and artwork quite a bit.

I don't bother. Because I'm useless at drawing. It would be really useful if there was some kind of machine that would record your dreams for you onto video or something. A bit like the ones they sometimes have in cartoons.

But by then people would be able to read your thoughts, in waking life. and that would be a severe invasion of personal life. and i would hate that.

I did wonder that as I posted, but then you'd just have to be careful.

But never mind- the benefits would pretty much outweigh the fact that your mother discovers you've dreamt about a giant flying peice of ham shaped like her. (It could be alot worse, obviously).

Or just make the machine have a password on it to let you get to the tape? Perhaps? Like a "DREAM PLAYER", where the password is burnt onto the dream video, and you need the password to access it.

Dont get me wrong, a machine like that would be cool, but it would have several downsides...the biggest one-Invasion of privacy...i just wouldn't want people reading my thoughts, or i WOULD NOT want to read other people's thoughts, first of all there are some sick people out there.

And humanity lives off of relationships, and how would relationships develop and flourish if you KNEW what other people were thinking?

i don't draw my dreams, i think it would take longer than just describing a little of it and having my memory do the rest. my dreams do however inspire some of my art.

I always write down my dreams and then later when i get bored, i read over my dream journal, appreciate how insane i am and then pick something out that sounds like it would look cool. I have a sketch of a big worm thing. The thing looked really cool in the flesh, y'know moving and roaring and stuff... i should post that dream....

Yeah i draw mine sometimes. But as a few people've said, it's not worth it if you start drawing as soon as you wake up, spend a while working on it, then forget alot of the dream. But i find it is worth it if you write out all you can first, then when you're squeezed dry of words, sketch out some of the more interesting images of the dream. Looking back over the journal in the future, i'm sure it'd add another layer of vividness to the memory of that dream.
