Personally, I do think my sleeping position affects my recall. Almost every night when I climb into bed and lay in a position, I remember a dream from the night before - I think it's because I'm in the same position as when I was dreaming it.
Also it's been noted by a lot of members that as soon as they move positions after waking up from a dream, they forget it. So you should lay still for a few seconds and not move after waking up to improve your recall.
