Lately, after a short period of absolutely no dream recall, my recall has been coming back. Yay... The only problem is that it's delayed about 5-10 minutes. I just woke up and tried to recall my dreams, but nothing would come back. As I was checking this site, a dream came back. I can remember it clearly and more and more is coming back to me now. Does anyone have any ideas about why this is happening and what I could do to accelerate the process.

      Thanks

One tip I frequently use is to cling to anything you can remember. Colors, smells, sounds, basic level impressions from the dream. Usually I can remember at least one fragment of a dream at that level. Like last night, I remembered dirty wood. I clung to that fragment, and worked my way up from there, and eventually pieced together that I'd dreamt I was in a dirty mineshaft, with walls lined with wood.

This has happened to me. I'll get out of bed and go downstairs and see my dad or something, then I'll get a flash and suddenly remember a small part of the dream, even if it was unrelated to my dad or the something. However, It's very weak and I can lose it almost instantly if I don't "catch" it.

I had that today, but I think it's because I didn't wake up naturally. As long as you keep thinking about dreams, it might come back. Sort through emotions in your head, if nothing else will come. Once I got to angry, I also felt embarassment, and soon remembered about ten minutes of a dream. *nods*

Yeah, same thing happened to me this morning. I was only able to remember part of my dreams while writing them down upon waking, but about an hour later I suddenly remembered much more and went back to add to the entry. I've even remembered dreams I had in the morning while at school 5 hours later.

I think a lot of people have this problem if they don't keep working to build up their dream recall. I have the same problem, so don't feel alone : P

5-10 minutes of a delay is nothing to some of the delays I've had. I do my best every morning when I'm in the shower to think of the dreams I had the night before and I usually come up blank.

I just tell myself: "Nope. You didn't dream last night."

..But I'm wrong. Usually on the way too school or sometimes coming home it will just hit me. It is such a revelation to just suddenly recall your entire dream. One day, I actually didn't remember my dream until around twelve hours later when I was at the skate park. I wake up at around six in the morning and am usually at the skate park around seven or eight at night; so it was more like thirteen or fourteen hours.

It's weird how sometimes you'll just be walking aroung in RL and suddenly...BAM... the whole dream comes back to you clear as day. Or sometimes it's a series of bams like BAM...I dreamt about that...BAM... more pieces of the dream are added.. BAM, BAM, BAM. I've been working at connecting my dream mind to my day mind with meditation in the morning and I find that I usually remember the dream during the morning meditation period.

When you get a lead, daydream. For me, may daydreams go byond my control when I am remembering a dream. I relive the dream. Perfect recall, asuming a get a lead in the first place. But I never do, my recall sucks. But if I get a lead, daydreaming has helped me. So try it.

I get that a lot too. I wish I had never started forgetting my dreams, but that wasn't my choice.

I usually can recalls my dreams only after a few hours and I thought it was the same for everyone... Interesting thread, I'm quite surprised actually.
