      Weird problems with dream recall

ok these past few days i can clearly remember my dreams. i never used to be able to remember them that clearly, and i never kept a dream journal. but since i can remember the past 2 nights dreams clearly, i thought i would start the journal today. but the thing is, for me to lucid dream, i need about 13 hours of sleep!! for example, this past friday night, i went to sleep around 1 am in the morning. then i woke up at around 10:30am, and remember that i had a dream, but not a lucid one. so i went back to sleep like 3 min later, and i had 2 lucid dreams in a row. then i woke up again at around 2 pm. 13 hrs of sleep right there. SAME THING happened when i went to sleep last night (saturday night) i went to sleep at 12:30, woke up at 9am not remembering any dream, then went back to sleep and had two dreams, not lucid, then i woke up again. i remembered the dreams not being lucid, so i tried going back to sleep again trying to become lucid, but in my dream i thought it was reality so i didn't think about being lucid. then i woke up and kicked myself.
another note: i don't do anything (i'm a bad student) i don't do reality checks, or keep a journal (but i started today!)

so, what i'm saying is i can't even expect to become lucid on school nights because i get 6-7 hours max of sleep. i can remember that i dreamed, but vaguely. it's only on the weekends that i can manage to get some lucidity. can anyone help me out here? thanks for reading this long post!!!!

Be serious about your dream journal and try going to sleep earlier. You may have to sacrifice some evening projects but longer periods of sleep may be needed at this point.

Be serious about it if you really want it.

Ya' know i only get 6 or 7 hrs. of sleep mostly 2 & yet i still LD quite a bit, but if u really work hard on finding ur dream signs & practicing recall & keeping a journal u should improve tons.

Try and not go for the whole nine yards at first, take it slow and easy for a few weeks for your journal and recall.

In the week when you get 7/8 hours the best thing to to, if you want to recall dreams, is wake up after 6 or so hours of sleep. Then try and sleep for another hour after that. I find that helpful.

It sounds like you are using WBTB, or "Wake, Back to Bed". This is normally combined with other techniques such as WILD (Wake Initiated Lucid Dreaming).

I don't think that your long sleep is the cause of your enhanced ability to remember dreams (although it might help as you may be in a more shallow sleep near the end), but the fact that you wake up and go back to sleep.

In other words, you should get pretty much the same effect if you wake up after 6 hours or so and do the same thing..

There are tutorials relating to this in the Tutorials section - http://www.dreamviews.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=16.

      Hope that helps.
