So Lucid Dreaming is something that i really love to study about, to think about and to try out. and I got really excited and tried explaining my joy to my friends and family, even my boyfriend. no one thought it was neat, no one congratulated me on my near WILD and near DILD and i felt kinda put out. now i lost some confidence. im about to go to sleep and try WILD. any support out there

i am thankful to have at least some supportive people around me, but more often than not, most people are themselves weirded out about it, or don't quite know how to react to it really... i think Clairity said it best above, we are here (the forum) for each other, as we don't always have support outside of here!

i am new here also, so don't fret, worry, or feel put out! if you need a little positive encouragement, i am certain you can find it here. welcome and don't give up... oh... and before i forget... congrats on your progress!

thank you! i kind of gave up today with LDing but am back in the spirit of things and am off to try WILD! so you all can send me a PM or anything, I will update my journal tomorrow and reply to everything in the morning!!!

Yeah, I really don't think most people understand what dreaming/LDing means to us. That's why this place is so wonderful. Most real life people kind of blank out when I start talking about dreams (even lucids), but here everyone is all, "Cool...great job". I love it.

i just gave up explaining what every thing meant to people. if they care about what i like they can look it up online and then talk to me. my goodness!!!!!

hahahahahha! i tried sharing the fact i had my first DILD ever last night to my boyfriend. at first he thought I said dildo which freaked him out. then i explained what DILD was and he rolled his eyes and told me to grow up. i almost slapped him. i mean, he collects hotwheels. like, obsessivly. its insane but i never told him to grow up

Agreed - You're doing something fantastic, perhaps over time he will learn to see that! Tell him all the awesome things you do in you're dreams, make him jealous!

hi again drmrgrl..... here's one for you (to use on your boyfriend)! it is about people saying dreams are somehow "less real" than the waking life.

"they say dreams are only real for as long as they last.... but couldn't the same be said for life?" it is actually a quote from the movie "waking life". it is a pretty cool movie but a little dense at times (with lots of heavy dialogue).

but listen... i just got home from my sister's and it is late here.... and now i probably won't have a LD tonight, but that's cool, right? no need to LD as much as possible, as being awake and being asleep *both* have a lot to offer! =)

Well, to be honest, you know that LD's are real, and you seem pretty sure of yourself that its somthing you really want to get involved in. If he is the sort of guy who doesnt listen to, and support you, maybe you're better off without him? If he really cared for you, he might take the time to get interested, and at least listen to you about it, instead of making you upset?

Not that i'm trying to tell you what to do, thats just my opinion on how I see it. I dont know either of you, and dont know about your relationship

Lucid dreaming is very anti-mainstream insofar as the mass media and pop culture. If he disregards lucid dreaming so easily than it is he who is dumb and stupid. By all means keep trying to convince him, but realize it is not something he has to accept if he isnt' willing. In that case truck on without his support.

You have us, for whatever that is worth.

he isnt dumb and stupid. he is more of a real thinker. i see myself as a day dreamer, and he is levelheaded. yeah, it hurts sometimes when he doesnt get supportive of LDing, buit its alright. i still love him alot anyways and dont expect him to believe everything I do.

things are better now. we talked them through and he is supportive. he was messing around when he was making fun of LDing. he thinks its odd but as long as he understands its important to me then im alright with it
