Thread: debilitating effects of Youth under age limit restriction

Keep the age limit. It's there for a reason.

Yeah, we don't want this place looking any more like MySpace

If anything, we change it to 16+

Lets put it this way:

The age limit is an intelligence test. It specifically says "Click here if you're 15 years of age." A person has to read it and click it to register, so if they're dumb enough to shoot themselves in the foot and show off their real age, they get the boot.

Its the rule of: What you don't know can't hurt you. If someone is younger than 15 and the staff doesn't know, as long as they're not causing a problem, they're just like any other member as far as the staff is concerned.

Once again, the forum specifically says "15 of over." Registering and then admitting you're under 15 is not only stupid on your part, but its like virtually flipping off the Dreamviews staff. Its as if you're showing off "Hey! I'm on you're forum when I'm not supposed to be!"

No, the age limit is there for a reason. Think of it as the skill test you need to pass to remain a member here.

I always check if a member acts completely stupid or overuses 'lol' and 'wat' enough that it warrants a check of their profile to see if they're stupid enough to post that they're underage.

Can you imagine what this place would be like with a bunch of people under 15? I don't think any of us want that. They can go create their own forum, DV Juniors or something.

I do wonder sometimes though if the age limit actually keeps underage people out. I doubt that your average kid has the control to stay out of a place that he's told to stay out of.

Like people who admit to being underage? Yeah, I guess that's better than nothing. I still think we may have some of them around. I get really suspicious, for instance, if I see something like, "hey i rly liek this foram". Hehehe.

Yeah, well those are usually the kind of people who end up admitting it . Maybe we should have random "Tell me your age" threads ...

Also, if someone posts well and keeps quiet about being underage, I don't see that as a problem.
