      Does Winter Change You?

I know I show strong seasonal shifts in appearance and behavior, but it varies a lot from person to person. It was pretty stark today when temperatures shot up to 65F and my mood and energy level automatically elevated, leading me to leave my burrow and go find food. I guess you could call it SAD, but I rarely experience it as depression, just normal seasonal behavior.

What do you do differently in winter? Does your appearance change (hair, skin, weight, etc)? Are you totally immune?
If you have a sense of caring for others, you will manifest a kind of inner strength in spite of your own difficulties and problems. With this strength, your own problems will seem less significant and bothersome to you. By going beyond your own problems and taking care of others, you gain inner strength, self-confidence, courage, and a greater sense of calm.Dalai Lama

      A few things change actually.
      • I'm much happier and comfortable (in the days when the weather's dark altogether)
      • I sometimes get a cold (when I'm outside most of the time)
      • My nose goes read (entry above)
      • I like being indoors

That's what changes about me in Winter.

I definately have SAD. I feel less "happy" when there's less sunlight.. sunlight definately lifts my mood.

The weather usually has a big impact on my mood, when I really stop to look at it. When I really look at the beauty of some things, it incredibly lifts my spirits. Winter really does that for me, when its snowing heavy with very little wing, its absolutely stunning to go outside and look straight up. And just watching it pass under the light of a street lamp. The city isn't all bad, it has some beauty too it.

Its also a mood lifter just to look up in the sky on a clear night. Though thats more just weather than seasonal.

It's dark and overcast a lot more during the winter, it's not sweltering outside, so I just all around have a better time during this particular season. I hate it when it's bright and sunny and hot, but cold, overcast, and a slight breeze? Awesome

Yeah I'm a gangsta, but still I got flavour.

Winter changes me very little; I go out more.

In summer I like to stay indoors from the sun.

I stay indoors more, put on 10-20lbs starting around October, and grow my hair longer and thicker (It grows woolly underlayers like a long-haired dog), including a beard if circumstances allow. My hair also gets darker and my skin paler and much drier, so I end up looking quite different in February than August. And of course, I dress much differently layers layers layers.

I find that during the winter, I'm more prone to mood changes. I'm not always in an "okay" mood, but rather "great" or "blah." It also depends on if I have stuff to do or people with whom I can hang out.

I also drink a lot of hot drinks.... A lot. I had four cups of hot chocolate, two cups of coffee, and a cup of tea yesterday. I had two cups of coffee and a cup of hot chocolate before lunch. What I'll have tonight, I haven't decided.

I become a lunatic when it's sunny every day. Crazy, hyper, bouncing off the walls.

I usually despise winters here because it's so gross and rainy and windy and slushy and cold, but this winter has been awesome. Feels more like Fall. It's dope. So I've actually really enjoyed this winter.

When it's fresh snowfall, I fall in love with everything just because snow is so beautiful. I love the winter wonderland, as long as I'm dressed warmly. Physically though I get a lot paler and my hair also gets darker, which I don't really like 'cause I hate being pale.

That's about it though, Winter fucking rocks.

I usually find that I'm more tired during the winter, probably due to the diminished sunlight. I find myself most comfortable during a calm winter day though, when the air is dense and crisp.

I always feel happier and at peace on really cold winter days with minimal cloud cover.

Sunrises during those days are nice too.

I am always really happy during the winter. I actually like night time, so having shorter daylight periods is nice for me, it makes me feel more relaxed. I love watching the snowfal, the Christmas decorations in December is beautiful, and at least during winter I can look forward to spring and summer.
Fall/Autumn is my least favourite month, and the worst month for my depression.

      Do a reality check.

During winter I thrive. I have so much more energy, I am much happier, I feel at peace and satisfied with my surroundings. I get more done both in terms of school work and hobbies... and I want to go outside more.

I don't get depressed in the winter like some people do. I work with a lady that gets seasonally depressed and has one of those UV light lamp things in her house to supplement the loss of sunlight during our long Michigan winters.

But even though I don't noticeably feel down, I find that when we get our first warm sunny day in early spring, that I feel like I'm on Cloud 9 - so happy and carefree and in the best mood in the world. It's like waking up after hibernation or something.

And obviously, I look a little different in the winter. My hair is generally darker and skin is fairer.

I have a bad case of the january blahs right now. I feel so drained and drowsy all the time. My mood defiantly goes down during the time right after new years. Is there a place in the world where it's fall year round? If so im moving there.

Nothing like stepping outside walking around town in shorts/shortsleeve when it's -5 outside.
