Dream Views Chat (irc)

So if you connect to the IRC server "Darkmyst," and then go to #DreamViews, you'll see me! I've been chatting it up there for a while but it gets awful lonely, you know, with no one knowing about it, so I figured I'd announce it!

IRC is easy to use and it doesn't suffer from any of the vices of chatspot. It's a separate program so you don't have to fiddle with multiple browser windows either.

to get started, download a client. I use Xchat, which is downloaded at: http://www.xchat.org

when it's all installed and whatnot, go into XChat>Server list

set up your nicknames, type in Darkmysyt as the server, and click connect

now type in "/join #DreamViews" after you're connected.

And that's all there is to it! Xchat becomes a tray icon when you X it so it's nice and handy. If someone wants to volunteer for Mod-dom, you can leave it running in the backround without it getting the way.

now go and chat!!

I'm using linux because I'm really cheap and I dont know what client to use

I'm gonna find one though

EDIT: xchat is multi-platform... nice!

I thought Xchat had a Linux port. Anyway, I am so living it up in there right now.

I never really got the whole IRC thing. The closest I've been acquainted is through Bash.org.

Wait... you have to pay for mIRC and Xchat right?

Nope, it's free. At least mIRC has a trial thing on it, but it only annoys you at startup. You can get away without paying for it.

Hmm I remember I had mIRC on my computer at one point. I clicked on it to see what it was like and it said trial expired and wouldn't let me do anything else. So I uninstalled it.

Then you slipped into a parallel universe where mIRC wasn't free? It's always been "free" enough, apart from the irritating nagging dialog at the start that you click through.

For blazes sake, use DarkMyst or something.
AfterNET is so horribly abuse-obsessed that it doesn't allow connections from any country other than the South Pole but even the penguins have to wait 5 minutes in queue. :sweat2:

and courtney if you're having trouble then just goto

http://www.xchat.org/files/binary/win32/xchat-2.6.7.exe

if you have windows... download it and install it

and once its installed just connect to the AfterNET server

and when its all connected then type /join #DreamViews

and it will work
