It's not art, it's a lazy assholes attempt at making ridiculous amounts of money from not doing anything. Not to mention it's a slap in the face (I'm assuming) to anyone that paints (not spills) for a living.
Fine Art
Someone missed the toilet.
I'm really not getting this.

Most of this looks like runny diarrhea.
Who wants to buy runny diarrhea for 3000 dollars?

What CatBus said.
I wonder what is the guy's standard for pricing, what's the difference between a 200 dollars blob and a 3000 one?
- Are you an idiot?
- No sir, I'm a dreamer.

I don't know what disturbs me more, the fact that people have the audacity to charge so much for shit like that, or that people actually pay it.
More power to the "artists" (I guess) for being able to make a living off of such little work, but I mean come on..
I can respect a little abstract art, but thousands of dollars for something that looks like paint was slung off a brush from 20 paces? I just don't get it.

It depends how you look at it. I can see why people would consider it art.
I myself wouldn't pay hundreds of dollars for that type of stuff though. Look at the painting near the bottom titled "Melisa". Who would pay ten cents for that crap?
Surrender your flesh. We demand it.
Nothing more than different colors of paint gently mixed then spilled on the canvas.
Do you feel all abstract art is crap?![]()
Van-Gogh is abstract art. This is formless, pointless art. There's a difference...Do you feel all abstract art is crap?
A statement I agree with is that 'until you can paint realism, your abstract counts for nothing.'
I can kind of see 1 and 3, in that they are kind of pretty to look at. (Though I think the fact they are pretty is just luck and not skil.) But aside fromt hose two, it gets totally ridiculous. (Even still, 1 and 3 still aren't worth anything!)
Especially numbver four... Wow.
I think the reason alot of people buy it is to say, "Yes, I can appreciate totally abstract art unlike everyone else who, *insert arrogant laugh/scoff here* just buys art because it looks realistic. Ho, ho. Simpletons...
Oh, and I can afford to drop 2 grand on a blob by the way. You can't."

One man's trash is another man's treasure. Art is subjective for the most part.
I think you still have the fundementals, principles and certain elemants of art that usaully make it work for a viewer. Most often I have seen that if an artists strays too far from those basic fundementals of design that they don't often work. Which imo that is the case for many of this man's work, but not all.
The $$$$ >That is another issue.![]()
I like some of those![]()

I could probably make more money than him by simply making a black dot on a white background...
I want to be able to sell some of my art![]()
It looks like someone put some paint in a blender and tried to sell the lid for $1000

For some perspective, here are a few pieces I'd (personally) call good abstract art.

Yeah, what Oneironaut said, all of those paintings take actual skill, not spill.

There's maybe 5 paintings at the bottom that are pretty good, but most of that just looks like paint spills. It's fun stuff to make, but it doesn't take any talent, thus not fine art.
157 is a prime number. The next prime is 163 and the previous prime is 151, which with 157 form a sexy prime triplet. Taking the arithmetic mean of those primes yields 157, thus it is a balanced prime.
Women and rhythm section first - Jaco Pastorious

I think it's just a matter of taste. It's fine art to someone, therefore it's fine art.
A few of them are cool, but they basicaly suck.
By far, Mothra (in all of it's forms) is the worst kaiju of all time.
Abstract art is cool. The OP's link is to spilled paint, not abstract art. What Oneironaut linked to is abstract art.
Don't be deceived by the term "fine art". "Fine art" is no indication of its quality. "Fine art" just means expensive art which snobs have agreed among themselves is "fine". It isn't about art at all for them, it's just a badge of class that they can use to prove that they are more cultured or sophisticated than their friends. That's the only reason anyone would pay more than ten dollars for paintings like this. Anyone else would just make their own.
