As most of you know, the united states is attempting to pass a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage. I am amazed at the stupidity of some people. Their argument basically consists of "We are trying to protect the sanctity of marriage, it is a union between a man and a woman." Good reasoning, dipshits. I could have sworn divorce already destroyed the sanctity of marriage. Stop using religion as an excuse for your prejudice you hypocrites.
Today, we look at the era of slavery and lack of rights towards women and minorities as completely irrational and arrogant. As soon as the debate is finally over, and we teach our children in schools that gay marriage is acceptable, this era will be looked at as no better than when the other prejudices were around.
My final thought? Grow up, or go to hell

:]

I feel the same way. What the HELL happened to separation of church and state anyway?! Ugh, well anyway here's something that I've found and fits perfect for here
12 Reasons Why Gays Should Not Marry:
1. Homosexuality is not natural, much like eyeglasses, polyester, and birth control.
2. Heterosexual marriages are valid becasue they produce children. Infertile couples and old people can't legally get married because the world needs more children.
3. Obviously, gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.
4. Straight marriage will be less meaningful if Gay marriage is allowed, since Britney Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage was meaningful. For more meaningful straight marriages, please look at: Married By America, Who Wants to Marry A Millionaire?, The Littlest Groom, My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance, etc.
5. Heterosexual marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all; women are property, blacks can't marry whites, and divorce is illegal.
6. Gay marriage should be decided by people, not the courts, because the majority-elected legislatures, not courts, have historically protected the rights of the minorities.
7. Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire counrty. That's why we have only one religion in America.
8. Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.
9. Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.
10. Children can never suceed without a male and a female role model at home. That's why single parents are forbidden to raise children.
11. Gay marriage will change the foundation of society. Heterosexual marriage has been around for a long time, and we could never adapt to new social norms because we haven't adapted to things like cars or longer lifespans.
12. Civil unions, providing most of the same benefits as marriage with a different name are better, because a "seperate but equal" institution is always constitutional. Seperate schools for African-Americans worked just as well as seperate marriages for gays and lesbians will."
oh and in case you didnt notice, that's sarcasm.

Curiosity killed the cat but at least it didnt die an ignorant bastard
That is one good list there nightowl. I also don't understand what the fucking deal is. Lets face it, what does it really matter? Is banning gay marriage going to make people stop being gay? Not bloody likely. Then what is the point, what are they trying to accomplish? What does it really mean to them? It's just plain illogical...
I hope that someday the government will stop trying to meddle in people's personal business and focus on what really matters. Let people live free and let the rule of "Your freedom ends where my freedom starts" prevail. If it doesn't affect my freedom, or anyone else's for that matter, then let it be!
If I hadn't made me
I'd be more inclined to bow
Powers that be would have swallowed me up
But that's more than I can allow...
I think they should ban regular marriage and all non-gay sex.

Just because you feel like a jerk doesn't mean you have to act like one.
Probably one of the biggest discrepancy amongst the subject of gay marriage is the financial benefits which vary depending on where you live.
Of course, anything that entails money coming out of the governments revenue is going to be argued against, although, they may shroud their true reasons for arguing against these movements by attempting to lure zealots to their side to protest against the minority (I think we can all agree gays are a minority) with reasons such as, "God would not like" or some other asinine reason.
I could personally care less what other people do with their lives.
*Is curious what evangel has to say on the matter*

Considering how he was elected though, the votes might not even matter.
*Thinks back to Fahrenheit 9/11.. which was a great movie*
The other point to bring up are bi-sexuals... if a person is bi-sexual and marries someone of the opposite gender, these people have no problem with it whatsoever. It's simply the matter of financial benefit and abusing these benefits by having immigrants marry friends in order to stay in the country (and people would, regardless of any ridiculement). *Reminded of the Drew Carey show)*

I heard an argument by some schmuck republican in congress that gay marriage destroys family life. Jee wizz captain obvious, maybe if we would stop teaching our kids to hate people because they are different from us...? Seriously though, which destroys family life more: Divorce? Or a gay couple moving in next door to you? The people who shouldn't have power, have power, and the people who should have power don't have enough money to buy power.
Nobody needs power.
Living next to a good rental house, I have seen my share of neighbors. I'd have to rate the gay couple second to the guy who left his hydroponics equipment in the shed when he moved out.

I guess I stand alone then.
Ignorant bliss is an oxymoron; but so is miserable truth.
Well could you do us a favor and tell us why?

My position on homosexuality has always been the same: You can point that thing anywhere you want as long as its not at me.
