I would get the Ibanez; my favorite guitarist Rocky George uses one, and I have never been a fan of Fender so don't listen to me.
Jackson FTW.
Which of the two would you buy. Im new at electric guitar but i have played acoustic for quite a while, also i have money to burn (not literally)
Aww the Fender i LOVE the style and its a pure classic.

Ibanez, one of the sickest looking guitar brands out there.

Unless the Strat is US, I'd go with the Ibanez.
Even if it IS US, the choice depends a lot on what you're looking for. The Strat has a signature sound, and if that's what you're going for then a Strat is certainly the way to get it. If it is US made, it will also hold more value longer, and may even appreciate in value.
The Ibanez is really going to be the better made instrument overall, and will give you more tonal choices with the pups and wiring combination. This looks to be a Korean made Ibanez... the factory there produces superb instruments. (I play an Ibanez bass and LOVE it.)
Very different instruments.

I would probably get the Ibanez because of the sick looking reverse headstock (love those things) and because it'll be the best on for metal. What you pick all depends on what you want. I'd get out and try them at a music store and pick the one that feels and sounds like what you want. I have played Ibanez's that looked killer but had a horrible neck (I forget what model but the neck was really round and I prefer flat). I was looking for a guitar not too long ago and decided to get a Jackson Warrior (around $300) and an Epiphone Thunderbird bass (around $300 also). The order was delayed so I cancelled it and was gonna buy a guitar for around $600 instead of getting two. Then I looked at the Gibson Reverse Flying V ($1000) and then at getting a Custom Carvin ($1100-1200 for what I wanted). What I realized is that if you try to buy online you will 1. pick the guitar that others think is the best and 2. keep having your price go up (maybe not but that was the trend for me). My advice is to try some friends guitars and go to the music store and try out guitars. Remember each guitar is different so if you go to a music store consider buying that one rather than ordering it online even if it's a little more. I have bought a good number of guitars online and most have been fine through shipping and I have liked them.
One more story, I was at one of the local music stores and I tried out lots of guitars, Ibanez, B.C. Rich, etc. and most of them were ok but nothing really stood out (except the B.C. Rich Beast which repeatedly stabbed me as I played it). Right before I left I tried out a guitar that was around like $200 (it was $150 online) and it was the best guitar I had played, fast neck, killer sound, good small but solid feel to it.
My favorite guitar that I own is a Washburn 7-string that I paid $100 for new and it blows all of those $400-700 Ibanez's I tried out of the water (the pickups suck but as far as playability goes it's sweet). Get out there and try some different guitars because shopping for guitars in a catalog or online is completely different than actually trying them out and knowing which one you like the best.
epiphone... ibanez...epiphone... ibanez...
ibanez looks so cool... and epiphones remind me of SGs...
i think ibanez might be cheaper
plus i love ibanez![]()

Really depends on what kind of music you play.
If it's metal, I'd say fuck the Ibanez and get an ESP.

ESPs are great but it really comes down to how it sounds depending on the model and what amp/effects. I'd say that both are great for metal. BTW in my other post that guitar that was better than the others was an ESP F-50 which is $200 online now. Great crazy looking guitar.
Yeah, I have an ESP Viper-400 and it was the best money I've spent.

Elwood, i would not go with that Ibanez, have you ever tried one? I have actually tried that exact model i think, it gave a nice tone when in a good amp but the pickups are really shit to be honest, you need a good amp to get a nice tone. It handles okay though but seriously if your looking for sound over handling then don't get it.
This is the guitar i bought recently

It is really nice, i love it, the only difference is that it was a custom and had only one humbucking pickup but still it handles and plays really nicely. It cost me alot though, if your a bluesy/classic rock sort of player elwood maybe check out this one.
i really don't like telecasters or strats![]()

Too good! I thought I was the ONLY Rocky George fan in the whole fuckin' World! I've been on a Suicidal binge for about a week now, I simply cannot get enough of that guy. "Down my stomach.. here come banana!"
You, my friend, have excellent taste in guitarists.
Are you into Vernon Reid too? Howabout Ler Lalonde? (other "oddball" players)
p.s. Check out this video & blow your mind.

That is freakin awesome dude. I have never found another fan before. Rocky is perhaps the most underrated guitarist ever. His solos, especially on the "How will I laugh Tomorrow" album are masterful. I've been a big Suicidal fan for many years. It sucks that they called it quits in the 90s. Don't know much about the other guitarists you mentioned, but I am sure they are worth checking out.

Vernon is from Living Colour.
Ler is from PRIMUS. He will be touring soon with Serj Tankian (SOAD) & his band FCC. I can't even wait.
Both of them are very "unconventional" to say the least.
(This coming from a Zappa fan no less)
Also, mostly I listen to Buckethead now. He's in a class all by hisself.
I love most of the great guitarists, Satch & Vai & Gilbert etc.
(Have you heard Paul Gilbert's new one yet? Get Out Of MY Yard?)
Also, I'm a HUGE metal fan too, just got The Dethalbum (Dethklok) & it's a murdertrain a 'comin! Love that shit!

Instead of insulting peoples tastes in guitars why don't you tell us what guitars you like or would recommend. I know your entitled to an opinion but don't you think it is up to the buyer to choose, you may like metal styled guitars like Ibanez models whilst they are looking for a blues style guitar, if your saying that tele's, strats and squires are shit then you should rethink things. I'll take a wild guess in thinking that you are very one sided about guitars and you've already made up your mind about what you think of them even without trying them. Like i said, your entitled to your opinion but my guess is that you have never even tried a good range of Tele's or Strat's.
Sorry to rant...
no, thats just my general opinion. i don't mean to sound offensive.
my cousin has a squire, and my freind. they both can't hold tune for crap, and it's really flimsy. just look at the squire mark posted. it has one pickup and just a volume knob. and i do acknowledge strats and teles classics, but i just don't like the general sound.

It's a fact that Squiers actually do suck, LS.
