      Help in accessing a file/document

      Ok here's my problem. I used to have a program for writing my essays and dream journal etc. It was called "Microsoft Works Word Processor". Apparently, this was part of a free-trial thing and now it's expired. I can't use the writing program anymore and I can't access ANY of the files I saved using that program. I then used Microsoft wordpad to try and open it that way but when I do, it's all in codes and completely useless. My Lucid dream to do list is one of them and I want to see it because I can't remember what I wanted to do. I don't know anything about computers so I'll list everything I know about the file and if anyone can help find a solution then I would be grateful

      Type of file:WPEntrust Signed Document
      Opens with:WordPerfect® 11

      BTW, I don't care what happens to the file, I just want what's in it.

      Try: (Very simplified instructions, hehe)

      - Right click on the file
      - Go to "Open With.." so it bring sup the sub-menu
      - Click on "Choose Program.."
      - Choose "Notepad" or "Wordpad"

      You may be able to see the content here.. although I am not sure; I'm not familiar with the program you used.

      You could also get someone to get the trial program and then just copy and paste it to you..

      Thanks, both of you. I was able to find what I was looking for in all those codes and mumbo crap. I just did what O'nus suggested, although I'm sure adidas's adivce would have worked to. Actually I've already tried both of them before, but I never tried to really look what was in all that crap. Here's an example of what it looked like.

      That is just a very small part of the document. Imagine the whole page filled with those kind of symbols

      Worst case scenario, you could have downloaded the free Word viewer from Microsoft's site. I think it will let you save it as text.

      my dad's got word perfect 9... if you're out of ideas I could open it on his computer and re-save it as a .doc file?

      Yea its a good idea to save your file as a text file also after you save it as the regular format 8)

      You can download a file convert to convert WordPerfect to .doc. It's a pain though.

      http://openoffice.org will open them up and let you edit them no problem. It's what I use daily.
