You know what a teacher of mine used to do when a student had hiccups, he'd tell the hiccuping student that for every hiccup they had, he'd give them 5 bucks. The student never hiccuped another time after that, lol.
Just spend a minute or so on not hiccuping. I can't beleive no one has come up with this before. Just focus on not hiccuping. Don't hold your breath or anything. I just tried it for the third time a few seconds ago and it worked again. So I thought I would post here and enlighten you guys. Because I hate hiccups.
I had a strange dream last night...

Just hold your breath for as long as you can, or drink lots of water. That works for me.
I just savor the moment
I love hiccups
It is quite well known that it wasn't the Actual 'standing on your head' or the 'holding your breath' but just the not-paying attention part that makes those things work.

All you have to do is hold your breath.
The trick is: (at least, for me) While holding your breath, at the throat, which most people do, you can still hiccup. Tighten your diaphragm so that, even if your body wants to force a hiccup, it can't, because your stomach is unable to inflate. Hold that for ten seconds and your hiccups should be gone. I've been doing this, since I was a teenager, and it never (give or take a time or two) fails.

My science teacher has this thing where if he can't get your name by the second week of school, he gives you a dollar. I think I was the first person he ever had to give money to.![]()
Anyway, hiccuping, I just laugh and see how funny I can make them sound. But drinking water usually makes them stop for me.
"It was a dream! Can you control what you dream about, Hermione?" -HP7-9 Tasks-

I found that if you fill a pot with water, add sugar, vinegar, and baking soda, mix it up real good, chop up some small children, and sprinkle them on top, add a live eal, then stand on your head and pour the mixture directly into your colon, it works! I've been doing this since I was a kid. It always gets rid of my hiccups.
For me I just drink a spoonful of vinegar. Or, I just concentrate on breathing deeply or really slowly for about 30 seconds! It always seems to work

Doesn't anyone know of the trick drinking out of the other side of the glass. It's a never fail.
1.Get a big glass of water.
2.Hold the glass like you normally would but drink from the far side of the rim by putting your bottom lip on the rim.
3.Bend yourself forwards at the waist so that your head is practically upside down.
4.Drink up the water quickly trying to drain the glass in one. Make sure that you have drank any water that may be in your mouth before straightening up.
I'm amazed no-one has said this technique, it's a classic.

Can you explain it then? In better words, can you prove it is a placebo?
*............*............*
No, but something that specific is definately a placebo. The water drinking part might be real, but the upside down shit is definately placebo.
Can you prove it's not a placebo?
No for some reason drinking water doesn't seem to ahve much efect o me but upside down... i think it may be something to do with equalising pressure I dunno google it or something but it's proven to work.
