Ignorant people who think they know everything (ARGH!)

Hey everyone, Long time no see.

Anyways somthing thats pissed me off to no end this year is as the topic implys, People who think they know somthing who are just plain stupid. I have this kid that goes to my school well I regret to talk around him now he 1) always has to be in on the conversation and 2) ALWAYS CORRECTS EVERY LITTLE THING EVEN THOUGH 95% of the time he is WRONG.you would think a little buzzer would go off by now indicating to him that if he's wrong so many times he should learn to get his facts straight before speaking (Plus the fact that being corrected is just plain annoying)

another example would be I go to this other message board where I was debating somthing to this person. All he would to is argue Circular reasoning (saying the same thing over and over again) and mindlessly bash me. I keep telling him insulting me is getting you nowhere yet he thinks he knows exactly how to win the "intelegent" debate.

My bigger complain would definintly be the kid though...

Any ideas on how to shut him up without hurting him.. Too badly (I've known this kid since 4th grade yet he never seems to get it...) lol even the students at school are starting to call him "stupid".

Well you can try and prove that he is 100% wrong and has no idea what he is talking about. Normally if you can prove beyond a doubt they are wrong they will stop talking.

If that doesn't work might as well do what doug said because some people just wont get it, and there is really no point in talking with someone who still going to argue the same thing even when you prove they are wrong.

a swift kick in the nuts? -- i knew a kid like that in 6th grade, i just stopped hanging out with him in 7th grade

i didn't know him very long so it wasn't that awkward. the kid was an asshole to be around... you don't need to be subject yourself to that, let him wallow in his own BS.

it's sad but it worked for me. if you're a little more compassionate i suppose you could just tell him to "shut the fuck up." only in nicer words.

I got someone at school who's exactly like that. I just ignored him over and over again. And don't talk to him unless I have to. If then abruptly.

I blocked all 7 of his aim screennames but he keeps on making new ones and im-ing me. I just keep on blocking...

He also warns people for no reason, and usually wins too cause he uses all of his sns at once.

Get him talking about a topic that you are WELL INFORMED. It is important to KEEP YOUR COOL, and let him loose it first. Proove him wrong on every ground of the arguement. and laugh at his bullshit. this will be worst than a kick in the nuts, unless you have stell toed boots, then i reccomment that

Yes, I second that. Like I know this one kid who is a good friend of mine but he always undermines my car. He knows jack shit about cars, so it really pisses me off to hear him listing things that are wrong with it. Even more so seeing that there is nothing wrong with my car!

but there is a kid at our school who is just like that. they have these permanent shells around them. they can't figure it out. they won't change no matter what you say to them..

that's why i'd say ignore him.

that's why i'd say ignore him.

i wouldn't insult him, that's just asking for trouble. let him keep acting the way he does and people will gradually start leaving him... he should get the picture after a while and try to straighten up.

...well, if any of these annoying people are heavily into computers, and you can get their IP, just smurf them...otherwise, i usually jus override whatever these kind of people were about to say with a quick "NO! you're wrong!" then keep talking...they usually just go away cause they cant actually say anything
