Very Random, but I was j/w.
Mine's 126. How about YOU?![]()

ive moved this to the lounge, since, like nesgirl stated, this topic isn't related to dreaming.
i think there have been other topics like this...
but anyways, i have only taken IQ tests online. i got 120 on tickle.com and 146 on iqtest.com (how accurate)

yeah last time i checked i was around 108-110...
it still baffles me to see a forum full of geniuses.
That's because we obviously aren't. Everybody I met has an IQ apparently like 115+ or something (we did have this discussion before); but I know for sure that they're stupid and just can't admit it. Well. It's true.
Yeah the online IQ tests aren't great. I've only done two I can remember and I got 158 in the first and 127 in the second. What a sham

I once took an online IQ test when I was 8...
i went through all those friggin questions and it said i needed TO PARTICIPATE IN 1 OR MORE ONLINE OFFERS WTF
im gonna go pay for a real one when i find enough money
www.iqtest.com is free. Just did it a minute ago and got 133 lol. It'll ask for your email and credit card at the end but just enter your email and it should be in your inbox two minutes later. The credit card thing is only for some kind of certificate or something...Anyway, enjoy![]()
thanks for the link
i got a 123 but i think its because i have dialup
My I.Q is 16![]()
its the same as Cole5250....
but I don’t think you can measure someone’s intelligence even from using these online computer tests.

Supposedly 100 is the mean human intelligence and the distribution is normal with a standard deviation of 13. Believe it or not 98 is the intelligence of your average janitor (whatever the hell that means). So most humans do not have the intelligence necessary to accomplish tasks beyond that of a janitor! Well, I am not sure how sold I am on that, but the idea that human intelligence is normally distributed seems reasonable.
Oddly though its not alway the geniuses who are the most succesful, its the people around two standard deviations above the mean IQ of around 118-132 or so. 133 is the typical IQ of a college professor.
By the time you get two standard deviations above the mean you are in rarified company <2.5% of the population. Einstein had an IQ of 158 which is like the 99.9999 percentile.
The moral of the story is this. If genius measured by these standards is the key to survival, humans are'nt going to get too far. As brilliant as old Albert was one man can never build a society.
I knew someone who had like a 140 iq who was a janitor for a while. I also know another really smart person who didn't have a job for like 3 years because he took drugs(and gambled a lot). Its safe to say he screwed up his life because of that stuff. I also know another person, and I heard this person had a really high iq. He actually has a pretty big vocabulary and does sound smart, but he seems to forget things all the time.
My point is, a high iq doesn't help if your a moron. That might not make sense but apparently it true. As for being successful, I always thought motivation was far more important than iq. After all, how good is a 140 iq if you sit around and watch tv all day?
high enough to know that nothing good will come from posting it here.
I have never taken a formal IQ test. I just haven't ever had a need for it really. In my opinion taking an IQ test only gives the person taking the test something to either brag about or be self conscious about. IQ usually has little if any bearing on how successful a person is. There are MENSA members who are highly successful in their field of work and then there are members that are on welfare so there is more to success than intelligence.
I've only ever taken an online test, and it was 154 ( www.iqtest.com - 4 less than Einstein!!).
I'll eventually get around to taking a real test though...
Very true...look at Bush.IQ usually has little if any bearing on how successful a person is.[/b]

It's the hair that kills that avatar for me. LOL I like women who shave.
Oh yeah, I know several mathematicians who are forgetful. They seem to forget even the simplest things like how to add. The one fellow is so tuned into people that it seems to be like a blaring noise to him. Its hard for him to concentrate on teaching while standing in front of a room full of students. Professors are cool and quirky and sometimes difficult. A problem I have had with some really smart people is that they become socially retarded and naive. Look at Nina for example! LOL Hi Neener!![]()
remember flowers for algernon people???
an IQ is not how smart you are, its how big your cup is. Whether you choose to fill it or not is what really matters
Quite right! No reason to argue over semantics.
We could be nmore rigorous though (anal some would say ) and define our terms.
smart
1 a person who utilizes there available intelligence to its fullest potential
2 a person with a cynical wit, a "smart ass"
My definition of IQ is more like this, certain types of intellectual tasks are easier for people with high IQ, like abstract reasoning.
However more important that standard IQ may be emotional IQ. This is the ability, whether inherent or developed, to understand feelings and emotions. People who are strong in this IQ are very good socially. Some I have seen also talk of a social IQ sort of a mixture of standard IQ and emotional IQ that allows a person to navigate society very efficiently.
There are so many aspects to human intelligence. Its sad we you realize that children in the ghetto used to score low on IQ tests because the tests were racially biased. In my mind the people who made the tests must not have been very smart.

EJ
Yes that was a quite sad and unfair time... someone should have figured that out since your IQ cannot be raised or lowered by going to school and children cant change where they live no matter how smart.Originally posted by ElijahJones

Im going to get a formal IQ test in the next month or so, and if this topic isnt dead or anything tragic then ill probably post my results
I only disagree on one point and I think it is debatable. Check this out. research is finding that neural networks in our brains do change as we grow, in fact I think latest findings are that new nueral pathways can be formed and one of the main inputs to this formation is what we think about. So although we may not be able to drastically alter our IQ by thinking, it might not be too far to expect up to a ten point rise in real ability to coem from simply thinking hard thoughts. Have you ever heard soemone say it hurts my brain? When I first started studying math it hurt my brain, but I kept at it and kept at it and eventually I got it. Was this ability already there or did I form new neural networks out of otherwise useless neurons?
The mind is still an amazing and unknown field of study.

that book was incredibly depressing.
hrm it kinda makes sense being that a baby is born with an only half-developed brain. I guess maybe it just slows development to a point that we cant detect it...Originally posted by ElijahJones

interesting stuff, the brain
OFF TOPICISH: we had to do a report on a single body part (no dirtyness people) and there was this girl who talked for like 7 minutes on the lip and the girl that did the brain had like 1 minute... lol
