Just today I happened to watch this thing on tv talking about new body armor and the guy was testing it. He was all "This armor stops everything and is great" and he kept shooting it over and over and it stopped everything. That show really bugged me because the guy never tested the blunt trauma caused by the impact. Its not enough to just stop the bullet from piercing the armor, you need to slow it down or it might kill you anyway.

Standard Kevlar body armor, Level IIA stuff is able to be penetrated by even pistol rounds now (FN's 5.7 x 28 mm for example) I didn't see the actual show so I don't know how this stuff works effectively against rounds specifically designed to pierce.
