      Live Earth

What are people's thoughts on this?

Personally I think it is a joke. Its doing more harm than good. Plus I hate that all these "artists" are suddenly jumping on the green bandwagon when in reality they probably live horribly luxurious lives.

Doesn't it use up electricity (which burns fossil fuels to create) to air these shows? Then what about the trash and pollution from vehicles going to these events?
Plus all the energy/pollution from manufacturing the stage and equipment at the locations its at. Probably lots of bottled water too. Yummy plastic. What about all the litter and trash there would be after the shows?

Live Earth is a living hypocrisy. I'm all for saving the earth and fighting against global warming, but this is a hypocritical act.

"Hi Mr/Mrs Artist, I notice you're in X country right now. We're trying to save the planet and stop polution, so we're going to put you in a private jet, fly you to Y country, then Z country, then back to X country."

Oh and it's a ripoff of Live Earth/8, silly Al Gore.

It is a marketing event to establish Al Gore's company which will get a piece of every "carbon credit" that is traded worldwide... which is all this has ever been about.

There are FAR more important and influential greenhouse gasses than carbon dioxide - methane and water vapor being among them. As tiny a role as carbon dioxide actually plays in the regulation of temperature, man's contribution is but a tiny fraction of it. Meanwhile, report after report is being published directly tying solar activity levels to both global temperatures and carbon levels - reports that don't jibe with the new religion of Carbon Neutrality, so they are ignored by the press and media.

You are quite astute in recognizing that this is hypocritical. It is indeed, until one considers that this is all about establishing a global tax on human activity - the long-held dream of the United Nations. Carbon and "climate change" are nothing more than the most convenient leverage to establishing this additional grip on human liberty.

I agree with you completely. But you have to get the facts out somehow and by using who else? the media. Like Live 8 I always thought it was pointless because I've always thought to myself they really don't care maybe they do but their there to see their favourite artist celeb more..

Ugh.. That’s what I always think first too when I think about these 'for the cause' concerts. It's easy to forget why your there, when it just another big concert.

Though here in Canada wasn't one of the Live 8 concerts held in Barrie?

      Global warming is bad, mmkay.

Starry starry night, paint your pallet blue and gray,

Yup, Live 8 was held at the Molson Center here in Barrie recently.

The only reason that artists took part - and, cynically speaking, the only benefit of the show - was to shift records. And given the lacklustre viewership, I doubt it managed this. Ho Ho.

Bob Geldof and all those who uninformedly preach "green" are twunts.

Geldof had nothing to do with this. In fact he was rather angry his thing got ripped off.

You know what I liked about it?

      Nunatak.

They're a house band for a British research station in Antarctica, and so they counted for the seventh continent - Antarctica, of course. I doubt that many people outside the station had ever heard of them before this, and now they're slightly famous. I'd like to hear their music, as there's a bit on Youtube that sounded pretty good.
