Alright, so I joined a forum and was promptly sent this in the Welcome PM (strangely, it wasn't the same forum talked about in the video). At first I didn't know what to make of it, then I thought that it was pretty cool, and THEN I realized that sending it to new members of a forum was a fantastic idea. I decided to post it here because I liked it so much.

Once upon a time, the Dream Guides here at DV sent welcome PMs to every new member. I was welcomed to the board by OpheliaBlue
. I'm not sure exactly when this was discontinued, but apparently it became unfeasible given the increasing volume of new members.
By the way - awesome video.

That is so odd, we were just talking about this in the staff forum. I don't know when it stopped, but it did before I became a DG.

The Arrival Announcer was discontinued when DV switched from whatever they had been using to vBulletin, or the move before that. It took place a couple of years ago (before Asher came) and no one's been able to or bothered to write the code to reimplement it. It was a great system and everyone received a personal "hello!" It was also fun for the DGs, as we could see how many members we'd welcomed. I think the count stopped at 255, though.
