I heard about it. Is it playable for a poor person like me? By that I mean do I have to pay IRL money? Because from what I've heard it seems awesome.

I just got one, so hopefully I don't lose my first life because of it.
Anyone else play? I'm on right now. The name's Miren Macpherson![]()

You merely have to change your point of view slightly, and then that glass will sparkle when it reflects the light.
Switch, Serious, and Me hanging out in an SL mall tonight
I tried it to see what was second life about that people talk about so much. I quit in five minutes, the whole thing was a lag fest!

Is second life really that fun? My friend was playing it and it didn't look to interesting...

I'm not in there much these days, but my toon is Vudu Suavage and I have a store called Gods & Monsters. I joined back when there were 8000 total accounts and concurrent users were in the hundreds. If I catch you guys online, I can give you a tour of some favorite spots if you like.
If you have a sense of caring for others, you will manifest a kind of inner strength in spite of your own difficulties and problems. With this strength, your own problems will seem less significant and bothersome to you. By going beyond your own problems and taking care of others, you gain inner strength, self-confidence, courage, and a greater sense of calm.Dalai Lama

I don't think SL is a game per-say, the interface and displays are similar to MMORPG's, however it's pretty unique in it's own way. Taosaur is correct, it's for people with an extrodinary high amount of imagination and creative abilities. The world is basically what you make of it, there are people who have started a business and has made a fairly decent 2nd income. You can create virtually anything it's only limited to your creative abilities, people work, play and interact just like Real life. Pretty much whatever you can do in Real life you can do in Second life and then some.
That's actually quite simple, theres a lot of things you can do in Secondlife that you simply can't do in Real life, meeting people from various countries and instantly speaking their language is one. Must be something going right with SL as they have users in the hundreds of thousands mark.
