well, if a serving has over 20g of protein (preferrably closer to 30g) then yup! check the nutritional information on the side (i'm assuming the U.S. mandates nutritional info on all consumables...Canada does anyway). keep in mind also that if you mix it with milk, that's an additional 8-10g. personally i use other protein drinks and bars because i like over 30g per serving.Originally posted by nightowl
I asked my mom the other day to buy me protein shakes for me, but she came home with slimfast and insisted that they were protein shakes...soo..uh...are they? I want to add body weight so that i can mold muscle on my body easier..
protein isn't going to lead to you gaining mass on its own; protein helps you rebuild the muscle that you damage when working out. damaging the muscle is exactly what you're trying to accomplish when working out because it leads to the body creating more muscle. also, just trying to gain weight in general (i.e. fat) will not make it any easier to work out, nor will you be any more prone to gaining muscle, since fat does not become muscle.

..i just checked..only 10 g...oh well..ill probably throw them in the trash now

Slimfast definatly doesnt count as a protein shake. I would suggest swinging by your local GNC/Sports Nutrition store and getting a quality whey protein shake or weight gainer shake....
