Thread: Talking Sh*T

Not anymore. I don't need friends like that. I'm not a big fan of drama or gossip. I graduated from high school, thanks.

Yeah, I went through four years of boarding school and trust me, nothing gives you people skills more than living with your mates 24/7. Sometimes we used to have the biggest bitching sessions about each other, but I guess sometimes you need to let it all out. We all knew it was a roundabout thing; no doubt people would bitch about us too, so it was all good.
The biggest thing I learnt from the boaridng house was that sometimes you hve to just put up with shit, and sometimes you have to go out of your way to do things for people, even if it didn't necessarily get repaid.

Some good advice someone gave me one time that changed my life.

"If someone talks to you about someone else's affairs, they will talk as well about your affairs to someone else"

I do my absolute best to never discuss the issues of another person with others. Of course I fail sometimes, but I really try.

Now as to worrying about what others are saying about me. Who cares? The only people opinions that matter are those that have the power to influence my life. Mainly, my wife and my boss.

I believe it was Mark Twain that said (to paraphrase): "The problem with worrying about what others think of you is that they aren't."

Well, I kinda get it.

There was also the insight that whilst we may be worrying what others think of us, they are at the same time worrying what we think of them.

The problem with hanging out with this type of person is that you become like them, and some of it is rubbing off on me.

But yes, it's easier being out of high school, but only because you don't have to see the people you have beef with in school.

They just aren't thinking at all.

I've never been one for gossip. People have talked about me though, I'm sure of it.

I hate these kind of people, period. They should all be tortured and die.

I confront people like that directly, in a very angry manner.

Yeah, people here seem to love gossip. Not only that, they LOVE to tell other people what to do. Apparently, according to some woman I only met once, I'm a 'lost cause' and Lucius shouldn't bother with me. She said some terrible things about me without even knowing who I am. I don't even think she knows my name.

I didn't realize I left such a stain for a first impression... Jesus...

I was concerned at first, but mostly because her words upset Lucius. And when people upset Lucius, Lost Soul starts busting heads. I don't give a shit what people say or think about me, especially some cunt who only met me once, but when stupid stuff like that starts to hurt the people I love, I get very angry.

Disregaurd other people's petty trivialities. As long as you are a friend to yourself, that is really all you need. Plus, I'm sure that you have some friends that are not like that; people who genuinly care about you...

Ditto...I will defend friends like that even if I am hurt in the process. Except, I haven't heard from some of them lately (like you)......

Yeah. If I ever see her again… well, I don’t know Dutch yet so I can’t tell her off. I could tell her off in English, but I’m not sure how much of it she’ll understand. I guess it’s the stark American in me that just wants to tell her off and/or punch her in the face. Either way, I’m seriously done being polite around her. Anyone who hurts Lucius is instantly on my Asshole List. Grr.

I do agree with everyone so far, though. Just ignore what people say and don’t let it bother you. I guess I’m in a different situation because someone I love was hurt, but normally I could give two shits what people think of me.
