Tell me what you'd do if you were a billionaire.

I'd buy a small island and outfit it with everything a person needs to run it properly, invest about 100,000,000 and use the rest to buy people's souls. Simple soul on paper method would suit me.

I'd buy a modified compoundbow that can convert and go small, then a membership in an archery club. Next, I'll invest money in (private) research in trick arrows. Then get a green leather outfit (with kevlar in it, damnit), grapling hooks that can retract even my weight, some shades with builtin nightvision, binoculars and targetting devices (working with the scope on the bow).
Finally, I'll move to Copenhagen, and take out all the bad guys! Maybe call myself Green.. Sparrow! Or something.

Anything else, I'd get myself a kickass computer, a lot of cool games, then get my self a small little nice house, not bigger than neccesary, stash £100'000'000 and give the rest to some fond (assuming I have a lot of moneys.)

      And fast.

I'd buy a mansion. And a giant computer. And then never leave, and die a lonely death, never able to trust anyone, always looking to make more, more money.

I would buy myself a beautiful wife and raise a family in a huge house full of amazing furniture and electronics. I would also buy a nuclear bomb for my own personal protection.

      Do a reality check.

I would build a huge retirement home with furniture made out of gold, state of the art wheelchairs, and each resident would have his/her own nurse at all times. I would also donate to numerous charities, especially the American Diabetes Association because diabetes runs in my family, unfortunately. I would give all of my children $50,000 each and all of my grandchildren $10,000. The rest of the money will be for my two precious cats, KoKo and Midnight!

I'd save $100,000 in the bank and give everything else to charity. I'm perfectly happy with the stuff I have now.

      You're no fun.

I don't need a billion, thats a little excessive. I'd buy a huge plot of land, get a nice big house built there that looks out onto the wilderness(though I don't want to be too far from the city), fully furnished. I'd build a top of the line computer with multiple of all the best parts on the market, I'd get a few nice cars and bikes that I've always wanted. The Ford GT, Mustang, Shelby, Corvette Z06, and I'd look into getting my hands on that Lamborghini Reventon. Oh, and the Aprillia RSV 1000 R is a nice bike. All insured of course.

I'd buy a whole lot of really nice swords, knives and blades that I've wanted, as well as the whole sets of the medieval suits of armour I was looking at as well.

After buying the things I wanted, I'd invest a huge chunk of it and put aside a little in case of emergency. I'd give to some friends and other people I wanted, a good few people on DV would get a nice addition to their wallet The rest would be donated to causes I feel are worth it. Not just charity, but other things like science and research.

The small bit money I hadn't gotten rid of, I would use just to go out and have some regular everyday, though costly for the average person, fun.

Still, at all that, I think a billion is a bit over kill I think charities and friends would be getting a LOT.

I would pay off my debts (chump change), take about 3 months of fun + sun vacation, then buy real estate: family/friends retreat on a decent sized chunk of woodland near home, apartment in NYC, house in Hawaii, apartment in Amsterdam or Paris, maybe a place in Portland or Vancouver. I would establish a community center/ interfaith retreat in my hometown with adult education courses and work programs for homeless/ex-cons as well as micro-loans to community members, I would build an organization to staff these enterprises over about 18 months-3 years. If I could come up with a workable business plan, I might rebuild the Spa on which my town was founded, and establish a bottled spring-water plant marketing the town's history, or possibly a brewery .

I would invest about 10% of the money, put about 50% into a trust to generate income for myself and my family. The rest would go into the above real estate and organizations, and some independent charities.

Eventually I would make a pilgrimage to Dharamsala, then up into Nepal and Tibet.

wow a billion eh? I assume we talking pound sterling, not Dollars as that would equal only £500 million( wow the dollar is going down... for one pound you get 2 dollars! Well 1.98 but close enough)

Well i'd buy a big mansion somewhere but probably woildn't use that as a permanent home.

I'd buy a decently sized house somewhere( four bedrooms max) which i'd live in for the most part. Make it really nice, have a room for a load of cardio vascular equipment and a separate room with like a huge TV and the latest technology( one of those £5000 computers kinda thing, and other gadgets).

I;d want to hire a butler however, i'd buy them really well and would rather be-friend them, so their having fun as well as cleaning, cooking etc. I'd probably buy them their own really nice house close to me so their family could live their, make it to their specification etc.

I'd get a good stock adviser so i could put say £200,000,000 into stocks. Then whats left would go in a bank and i'd easily live off the interest.

( even if the bank only gave 1% i'd get like £5,000,000 and those real posh banks often give more).

Using the interest i don't spend, as i will buy stuff i see that i like but not go crazy on boats or anything, basically spending say £100,000 each year, i would make permanent donate contracts to many charities...

      1) Cancer research UK, breast cancer charities( mum had it), etc

      2) One of those clean water for Africa projects and also the sustainable development ones. Maybe send a team of Assassins to take out the corrupt leadership over their and hope the UN can handle things once the bad boys have bullets in their heads.

      3) STEM CELL RESEARCH! I despise how much opposition their is to it when currently it seems to be the most likely research to give us real medical breakthroughs in the near future.

and a few more ideas when they come.
Lugggs and cuddles and hugs for all!!

I'd be dead within two weeks of excessive indulgence in everything!

That's why artistic souls like myself shouldn't have money - it's best left in the hands of geeks and gangsters.

Now power on the other hand... aaah what I wouldn't do with power.
