Hey, I'm going to be writing my term paper for History about Sigmund Freud. I am very very interested in psychology and Freud is interesting. I really don't want to turn it into a science paper, however. Can anyone give me some tips about what to include in my paper?

Freud is interesting. He has some wacky ideas. I would start by explaining his subconscious theories etc. Or how he came about those theories (psychoparalysis) it is quite interesting. If you want to emphasize dreaming, he's the 1st to interpret dreams scientifically, if you could call it scientifically. Make sure to mention that he emphasizes sex in everything!![]()

freud while interesting and claimed as the "father of modern psychiatry" has had most of his theories blown clean from the water by modern scientific process and it is now generally accepted in the medical community that he was essentially a bit of a quack -although as his ideas were the first form of true "therapy".
his concepts and methods are still used, somewhat misguidedly, especially his sexual subconcious theories (which most now hold to be a subconcious projection of his own sexual desires and mores upon his patients) today in modern psychiatry but im a medical doctor and hold most of the psychiatric profession to be just as full of quackery as in freuds day. he is famous for and did most of his interesting work with jung who was the intellectual greater of the two in my humble opinion who went off to look for the paranormal after a big fall out with freud over some of his theories. he was in later life a heavy user of cocaine which says a lot of his work in general, the key and the reason to his notoriety and success is the concept of simply attempting to solve peoples emotional problems and difficulties with discussion (modern psychiatrists are now taking note of this and the good ones are reverting to cognitive behaviour therapy not just blanket prescription of aggressively marketed pharmaceuticals) which he should be remembered for not the fact he fancied his mum and thought everyone else fancied theirs. hope some of that helps. but as your mansays mention sex lots cos he was a horny dog that freud well youd be horny if you did as much gear as he did, no?
oh and he liked sofas/couches and this homage to him stands in many psychiatric practitioners offices today.
