Unfortunately, if that's the case, then it automatically becomes a redundant phrase and I thereby lose interest in it.

Today is the first day of the rest of your life.
EchoSun13 thinks that the first day of the rest of her life was the day she was born, and today is the 'one millionth" day of the rest of her life. What she fails to hear is the word "rest".

The statement is true, but to attach any particular value to today based on it doesn't make sense.
