      Revival Suggestions

      Hey all,

After spending a little time at ld4all, I noticed some smart ideas they have there, that we could perhaps consider.

Heres a little list of what I remember:
      1) Experimentation / Laboratory Section - great way of researching particular things
      2) Quick Reply feature... nice and quick

Hmm.. wow. I only remember 2 of them :/
I'll edit this later if I come up with more

Unless otherwise stated, views expressed in this post are not necessarily representative of the official Dream Views stance. Hell, it's probably not even representative of me.

Yeah, I've been wanting to do an experiments section. If there is enough interest, I will create it and publish some guidelines as well.

I like ld4all for the way they have alot of "open" places to get involved straight away. Steal the idea and call it your own.

*imagines seeker with 3 computers around him, typing on one with his right hand, another one with his left hand, whacking his head against the keyboard of another to type, while using his feet to move the mice of two computers, and using his left ear to move the mouse of the other one, while the internet nazi looms over him grinning madly waving evil payslip deducting memos of doom in his face*

With this experiments thing, I often coduct my own into sleep, dreaming etc. I wouldn't mind organising somthing if you have anything in mind. Even if you don't want to, may I please take a few n00b's to experiment on? My latest idea requires them.

So, what kind of n00bs are you looking for?

This could work. Maybe one experiment per topic?

The topic would contain a proposal, integration of ideas, results, and summary. Once the experiment was complete, it could be locked.

I like that. I dont know why, but i avoid topics that have around 5 or more pages to it =/

Anyway I like this experiementation section. I support it. Im sure we can resolve some questions and "what if"s

Basicly, for this experiment, I need some total begginers, male and female in equal numbers. In a very short summary, I am looking at the difference gender makes in certain aspects of dreaming.

i think we could do something neat like that. that falls under seeker's jurisdiction so i'll leave that up to him.

no way man. those make it too easy to post, thus increasing the forum's susceptibility to spam. we're (subtly) trying to encourage quality of posts instead of haphazardly replying on a whim.

Also, please don't forget the Community Pages idea. If that gets off the ground I think it'd be great because then this place would really become more than just a forum...I think it already is, but you know what I mean. Two people have expressed interest in the project so far... Lately I've been working on setting up a CNAME record for it and getting the permissions just right; hopefully I'll have an example page up and running shortly.
Each new day is a chance to turn it all around.

Thats great Seeker, I'm eager to do something as soon as I can get back into LDing... (been very distracted lately - as if nobody noticed )

There is one constructive crit I have on the new lab guidelines you posted... telling the lab rats (hehe) what the hypothesis is prior to having them try the experiment can have some serious negative consequences. For example, placebo effect and expectation of results

In addition, the lab rats should refrain from giving their own two cents until the experiment is complete. Tis can also affect the rest of the results to come.

      Just some thoughts

Depends on the type of experiment Placebo, but you are right in most cases. I need to fix my sons hypothesis.
