Total Dreams/LD Dreamviews members have per day

I'm very new to this forum but like to adress a suggestion that I think lack in the wonderful dreamviews site.

What about a feature that the members can put the total numbers of dreams recalled (per day) and if they had a lucid dream that day.

Imagine how wonderful if we have that! We could do statistics, show in the initial page something like: "yesterday Dream View members had XX dreams and XX of then were Lucid ones!" We could see trends and stuff like that. With time we can improve the informations...

It's possible to implement it in the site? I'm thinking in a very basic setup. Just a buttom to click and put the numbers of dreams that you recalled from a given day and how many of then were lucid, if any. If this feature had the hability to get past days, the better. Everyone that has a dream journal could put their previous numbers and see the statistics growing.

I love statistics and think it can help improve the dream/ld recall of everyone through motivation.

      Moved to Feedback for you

Anyways, this isn't a bad idea, but you wouldn't know how many people would lie. Eventually it would end up like
Today, Dreamviews members had 5,641 dreams, and 3,121 were lucid.[/b]
or something like that. Not a bad idea though, if people don't lie.

      Lie?

I think that this site is a serious one and that the people that spend their precious time here make a big effort to become very good Lucid Dreamers. I don't think we have room here for liers.

But you don't know who has lied. It takes one "sitboy", or a couple of "sitboys", to fuck it up. It's a cool idea though that would be nice, but lying is inevitable

Well, a couple of people may have a grudge against the forum *ahem* and trust me, there would be a couple of liars.

      Well,

If the administrators (or someone in charge of that) seems that someone is cheating, just discard him/hers numbers. Simple as that...

Great idea, I would be very interested to see statistics like those.

I can also see some practical problems - but hey, aren't problems just opportunities to improve things? (Stop me if I start to sound like a one of those motivation gurus )

That means we start to need more code. We'd now need to label each vote to the voter and have checks made on occasion to see if anyone is cheating. Really we are not going to get an accurate number, ever

If the number is not so well accurated, ok. It's better to have a number instead of no number at all. My suggestion is to have a very simple way to sumarize that in the beggining. And as was post before. Let's starts and after that we see what we need to improve.

I disagree. An inaccurate number is meaningless, so better to have no number at all. And I'm not really sure how meaningful an accurate number would be anyway. It's kinda like putting a visitor counter on your web site -- sure, everyone thought they were cool in the early days of the web, but they were easy to manipulate and soon became meaningless and annoying.

Also, I don't want to see a bunch of new arguments about "you lied", "no I didn't", etc... There's been enough sniping recently as it is.

Well, we can have users who want to put into their profile the number of dreams (NLDs or LDs) they've had. That's also what could be done in the dream journals, for example on the main post. IMO, more code just means more work for the admin and more random stuff on the site. Not that it's a bad idea, but I really like the simplicity of DV.
