People are not machines, and these tests expect people to perform these abilities with the reliability of a machine.

Besides, that Randi guy could be anally probed by aliens and still not believe.

Too much hastle. If I did have demonstratable powers I'd just head on down to the casino. Which I actually do from time to time. Roulette is too pricey of an experiment, but I clean up on those crown and anchor games when the carnival comes to town.

The real problem with casinos is that when you are on an "unnatural" winning streak at the roulette table, all these security guys show up and stare you down to make sure you're not cheating. Very intimidating, which makes it hard to stay focused.

But even the crown and anchor start to look at you funny when you win too much. Makes me all nervous and I feel guilty, lol.

After reading all these BD threads, that site always revives my faith that logical thought exists.

There have been telekenetics thats have done just what your purposing, it was in a time before the million when his foundation was first starting. The person rolled a pencil for him and he was not convinced. So he put controls all around the room (Which causes great stress on the kinetic). The kinetic once again managed to move the object even with all of randi's controls. Randi declared that the feat was not spectacular enough to be paranormal and therefore unless he could move something larger he would not win the prize. He did not end up getting it.

I'll try to find the article I took this from.

I am a psion working on Psychokinesis and I PLAN to take this challenge when i get so good that there is no way he or anyone can deny my abilities.

I did not want to at first because
a. there might not actually be a legit prize
b. Who wants to prove anything to him?
c. Its time consuming to get all the prerequisites and appointments.
d. If I succeed and actually win, people whould know psionics is real. Who knows what most people would use it for?
e. What would happen to me as a result of winning?

But i've finally decided that I will do this and when the time comes I'll make it public so that everyone will know if this is legit. I expect I'll be doing more than just rolling a pencil.

Anyhow feel free to continue this debate I'm done here.

To qualify for his trials, you must have been on TV. He doesn't test random teens anymore. Also, the deadline is coming up. You better hurry!

I speak only for myself but I can barely control my ability at this point.
I live with someone who experiences the same things as me, good enough for me.. Don't feel it necessary to prove it to the world..

Well said. being psychic doesn't rip your humanity away as long as you are human you will act like human. Sure you can say that you are disciplined and blaa blaa... but it's a misleading thought that ALL the masters stay hidden somewhere. While that may happen, it is highly questionable.

Same with tv, there are many who want to prove themselves, their hard work, return the insults etc.

You're in the middle of some kind of World Meeting, all the governments and all of the communities in the world are (somehow) in attendance. Before this time, they all could find one common ground: That they knew they were all human - all (more or less) genetically equal. No one person is more or less a threat to anyone or their community than anyone else, authority figures excluded.

Now, in the middle of this congregation, you stand up and you say:

"Ahem...can I have your attention please? I just wanted to announce that I have super-powers. I can read your thoughts, move things with my mind, speak to the dead, etc... And there are more people like me out there."

Do you think you are going to be applauded or feared?

The rest of your life would be watched through a microscope. You will be a potential threat to not only national security, but the security of mankind as we know it. All measures of defense that we have are tapered to the limitation of all opposition being just as human. Standing up, foolishly, and proving to the world that you have psychic powers is, effectively, the same as standing up in a crowded room of unarmed people and announcing that you have a machine gun in your guitar case.

I'm not saying that these powers do or don't exist, but that is a perfectly logical reason why someone wouldn't just come right out and announce that they have them.

But for every smart psychic out there, there is at least one stupid one, and at least another that would act "human enough" to endanger themselves. Most of the "genuine" (as opposed to scamming) that try to go public are somewhat schizophrenic (at least, in the hallucination and delusions of grandeur categories).

What if there was an orginization who thought like you did, dedicated to silencing the latter two? What if they were the ones who made them look schizophrenic?

And for hundreds of years, they have killed people for such things. Or witchcraft..

I do believe we're developing a form of ESP, but only at a minimum; most would seem to be blown out of proportion.

More like systematically eliminated. The persecution of anyone with psi abilities has a long history and continues to this day. Not a word of a lie, my grandmother's sister had an exorcism simply because as a child she always knew exactly who was coming to visit, even when they brought unannounced guests. She eventually committed suicide.

I was thinking of putting it that way but I somehow restrained it. Most of the restrictions for development are caused by peer pressure, social expectations and system that forces you to be something that someone else has pre-described.

Basically everything I have always fought against.

Haha, people make it seem so movie like or sci-fi.

As if they would roll out the tanks when they found someone who could use it.
As if there would be a secret organization to eliminate the person with the abilites.
Oh yeah, and the general puplic would be afraid, and the psychic would be a social outcast.
The psychic would be forced to cover himself up in a black coat and walk down the road while it rains. People would glare at him and walk faster to get away.

Oh yeah, ofcourse.
I'd be utterly amazed, nobody are afraid that it might be true. Why would we? I'd love for it to be true, and then I'd try to learn it myself.

1. Prove it.
2. Write book.
3. When scientists want to do experiments, tell them to buy your book and learn it themselves.
4. People begin to learn, scientists can do their experiments.
5. Profit and fame.

Just imagine for a moment that we did have undeniable proof that psi abilities are real, and there are people out there who can used them. Do you know what kind of legal nightmare that would cause?

First of all they would have to invent a whole new area of psychic law, with the means to police people who might be using those abilities for nefarious purposes. Without fully understanding what's happening, that would be impossible.

You just can't announce to the people that psi abilities are real. The people would demand some kind of protection from it. People would start accusing their neighbours of ruining their crops or making their cows go dry. Anyone who is having a bad day will blame it on psychics. It would be chaos! I can see it now, we'd go back to burning witches!

I agree with The Cusp. Psionics are not that special in the sense of that they can be blaimed. People are usually afraid of the things they don't understand.

I haven't gone telling people about my psionic trainings. Some know, some have even noticed. But I have never gone and told someone about it. Just for my own good
